This Week

Thank you so much for you patience. I really do apologise for what I know has been a long wait this time, but I'm pleased to announce that this Friday the first part of our Road to WWI series will release on YouTube! Hopefully making it easier for you all to watch. The most obvious gaffes (though unusually for me there didn't seem to be too many) have been removed, and I have added a bit of extra content with an introduction. I had planned to make the introduction quite long, introducing the Great Powers, the European Concert, the World of Empires of the late 19th Century (If any of you have read Dominic Lieven's Towards the Flame his section on the latter is probably my favourite chapter ever written on the war). Unfortunately, I felt when I started editing it, it just ended up being a bit too tedious to capture anyone's attention. I've thus gone with a much much shorter and snappier introduction, so we jump quite quickly into Bismarck etc.

I still have a good chunk of this original introduction edited, so I'll put it to a vote once we are finished with the series about whether you want me to finish it and release as a Patreon exclusive, or alternatively I could just release the script if we want to move on.

So, assuming my poor old elderly computer is up to the task of exporting the file, Friday should be release date!

Finally, the Balkan Wars should be released this week as well (at least I'm hoping). As I said last time most of it is done, unfortunately compiling the series for YouTube just took longer than expected with the failed introduction and whatnot.
