Russian Resurgence
Added 2025-04-24 19:34:21 +0000 UTCPatrons, this will first be available for Bismarck and above tier, everyone else in a day or so.
I hope you enjoy this next chapter in the Road to WWI Series. This time looking at the resurrection of Russian power. Sorry it took awhile, cant really put my finger on what took so long with this one, just the way it works out sometimes.
Next Up: a shorter one on the Italo-Turkish War, before things really start heating up with the Balkan Wars!

Thanks Alexandre, that really means a lot. Haha, yes I know I don't advertise it - I have tried to write a community post explaining why I'm uploading here a few times for YouTube. Whenever I did so though it always felt like I was e-begging a bit, and so have always stopped short. Patrons like you of course make a world of difference in allowing me to buy licences' etc. but outright trying to sell the service has always made me feel like I'm taking advantage of viewers to try and extract money from them. I know it's a bit daft of me, but I just hate the thought of turning the channel into something where I'm trying to upsell viewers and on the Patreon if that makes sense.

You should mention it more on your Youtube channel ; I'm sure there's other people like me who are fans of yours and had no idea you have more videos on patreon !

I suppose it could be argued it's hindsight on our part, as the ultimate goal of holding the balance between the German and British fleets is an understandable one (even though Russia's navy had to be divided 3 ways at all times, so even then the logic is still dubious). But everyone in the Army was up in arms about it at the time, and when your main threat is always going to be a land power it really does verge on irresponsibility.

2025-04-25 12:07:13 +0000 UTCI get Russia was starting from a low base but 6-7% growth every year is incredible. I also didn't realise how much Russia was spending on it's navy. Seems mad in hindsight. Especially given the Russian armies poor performance in WW1
