Next Video Update

Patrons,

Thanks for your support on the last video, especially considering how long it took.

Over the last week I've been working on my 'How the War Began' video. This is something I discussed a couple of updates back: At the moment an around 3 hour long comprehensive overview of how the First World War began, starting with Bismarck etc. and ending with the July Crisis. Hopefully it will cover areas that haven't really been touched on before in History YouTube.

Obviously the extraordinary length means it will take longer than normal to release the video. I'm thus hoping to release individual chapters to you here as I make them. I.e. you'll get a chapter on Bismarck's unification of Germany, how his system worked, Britain and Splendid Isolation, the Franco-Russian Alliance etc. etc.

This I hope will both give you an insight into what's happening, and allow me to get some feedback on how you're liking the content.

Hopefully that sounds interesting enough for the near future! I know three hours sounds a lot considering my snail like work rate over the last few months, but this topic is really my bread and butter and I've found myself blitzing ahead with it in the last week.

The script has left me with quite a bit of extra content I've ultimately cut, so I'm going to look at releasing it here as mini-essays in the meantime. I'll discuss this further with you via a post in the near future.

Thanks for your support as ever.

Oh for sure. I genuinely think one of the defining moments of the twentieth century was how much money the French lost in the Russian Revolution.

Hehe, agreed. Does the video really need a seven minute biography of Arthur Balfour? No. Do i want it to have one though?...

I’m so glad I found this channel. I can’t wait to watch, especially the content about the Franco-Russian alliance. Hopefully there will be some mention of how French loans bankrolled the Russian Empire in the years leading up to war.

I'd have concerns about the length to be honest. 3 hours seems far too short to be honest
