Do you want the game to have Music and Sounds?

I have been doing a bit of research into the process of making this work, but I wonder how important of a feature this would be for you.

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Would love burp sfx

Anon

I think music is not needed that much but sounds would be great... at least when it comes to stuffing parts... like moans, burps, popping buttons, stretching clothes etc. ;-)

Chris Mohr

I will write up a devblog later today with a list of things I think will be in 0.07

DaveH

Would it be possible to have a summary of what can we possibly expect in 0.07? :o

Jayan

I think some nice background music would be nice to have. But for sound effects, idk. It could work depending on how they are used and what sound is used.

Voted for "yes but it's fine without" - just because I would really like to have burping, gurgling and moaning sounds (as you know) but wouldn't need any music. And also: I'd prefer the game content to be (mainly) finished before polishing touches like sounds are added.

Lurker0815

Tbh seems like a marginal added value of including music vs the chore of finding the right audio tracks and enough variety/prevent repetition and then choosing which to assign to certain scenes etc seems like way too much work. Just checked the renpy docs so at least the implementation doesn’t seem like it would b too laborious but I’d imagine the rest of the above would b

John

I always mute music however sound effects can be nice

Mitch Thompson

I'm that person who mutes everything, sound effects could work.

Jabo

I usually mute sounds for ren’py games. Nine times out of ten it’s just the same song looping over and over again. If you we’re to add music I think there would need to be some variety, but that of course would cost a bit. As far as SFX goes, maybe moaning might add a bit of flavor? Not just for sex scenes but stuffing scenes as well.

SexualStalin

If the requirements to implement the music and sound features are feasible and timely, then do it. If not, forget it.

Tshe Tsu

It would be decent to have sound but it should be pretty far down the priority list imo. I would rather it not take development time away from the visuals/stories unless it took very minimal time/effort to add sound. It feels like a layer of polish that comes after everything else is done with imo.

Varlin

I'd say that I'm okay without sounds BUT I have thought sometimes that a single sound effect like tummy growl och furniture creaking and stuff like that could've lifted the scene. Music I could do without 👍❤️

Unbelievablehorse

Yea I’d rather play my own music lol

John

Could sound effects include burps and gurgles? I don't really care about music but think those would really enhance it!

Guy Obijsh

I picked "yes, but its fine without" because I think the game does not necessarily need sound, since I do not want to hear chewing noises, voice acting and that kind of thing and it also might add some considerable development time. However, I do really enjoy the small things like sound effects from the messages on the phone. I think the game Summertime Saga really has done it the best, where certain things have sound effects and you can for example hear people chattering in the background in school. There is also some different music tracks depending on the location or you can hear running water, when someone is taking a shower. If that is what you mean by adding sound to the game, I would definitely be on board with it.

Rasmus

Last comment on this I promise lol; I would rather not see the game delayed for the sake of adding sound and music, so I think if you want to implement it fine, just make it a "finishing touch" after the bulk of the content has already been added.

Troodon

However that being said I wouldn't mind it much if it had sound since I could always just mute it anyway.

Troodon

Honestly I'd kind of prefer it if it didn't have sound as that leaves it up to my imagination. Sounds honestly would make certain scenes uncomfortable for me.

Troodon

Music is not that important unless you plan to devote time to really make it fit and not be too much repetitive. Sounds however are somewhat important imho, they can really add up to the atmosphere. But if there is neither it’s fine, I’ll just play with a playlist in the background.

Oniros

It's a hard decision tbf. As others have said if there was music, it has to not be repetitive. But in that same vein it can't be too intrusive.

FunkyChunky

I would say it depends on type/quality of music and sounds. If its some generic free music (like 3 minute track playing on the loop) and basic sound effects I would say don't bother. Its hard to get music and sounds that enhance the game atmosphere and are not intrusive/annoying . In most VNs I have not seen any thing that would make me not want to mute the game. On that basis No from me especially if it would add workload to development.

Izdar

I choose no, because i think Sound is more Like polish.Something, that could come after the Game is finished gameplay wise

Sparxis

Honestly, I play all VN style games muted. Having the option to add sexy voice sounds to the naughty scenes would be a plus, but even then I'd rather see them all upgraded to motion clips before getting soundbites. Sound is icing on the cake, but I'm always gonna ask for more cake before more icing.

Icarus con Queso

Good to know. I could roll with that if a lot of people wanted it.

Josh K

I would be Background music, some sounds for the UI and maybe a few burps. I'm not into chewing and ASMR stuff myself

DaveH

I think just a nice background sound is all that’s needed honestly. Sound effects can be a bit much after a while.

NickSav

This is why I'm polling it, to check how important this feature would be. Then I can decide if I want to implement it, when I want to implement it and how much time is should spend on implementing it. And I won't be charging more if it has sound.

DaveH

Silence is pretty unconfortable for me (personal mental issues) so I always play with some lofi playing on the back just for the sake of listening to something. Having just a small nice track in the background would improve the experience a lot for me

the_philosopher

I've never thought "it's too quiet" while playing. Music wouldn't distract me, but I'm definitely not into mouth or digestion sounds like some and I'd turn them off if they were available. Ultimately I'd rather it not take up your time like visuals and writing.

Josh K

It would mean more work and programing.. Which is a great enhancement for gaming experience.. But would mean more unnecessary extra work since weight gaining is hardly a popular fetish to begin with which means you need to charge extra for it and more delays
