"What is love?" and "what it is a true warrior?" are the same question which is way the scenes are intercut.

2025-03-19 19:11:07 +0000 UTCI always felt that the priest philosophy about Love felt more Buddhist than Christian, as it focus on detachment from the material. I kinda wonder if it is a mistake as the Japanese author would be more familiar with that religion, but considering the depth of research that goes on in the manga, I think it is on purpose. The monk was very disillusioned himself so I don't think he was meant to be a representative of Christianity of the time. So I think Yukimura mixed Buddhism and Christianity to create a new philosophy to propel Cnut forward in the narrative.
