2025-01-18 04:36:53 +0000 UTCWhen the priest heard the story about Thors, I believe he was making the connection to Jesus Christ, perhaps even believing that Thors was an incarnation of Christ, and drawing inspiration from that. The "love" that the priest speaks of is the Christian concept of "agape", meaning universal and unconditional love (as opposed to personal attachment between family members and such).

2025-01-18 02:41:15 +0000 UTCAn aspect I really love about this show is how it explores Christianity because it's so interesting to see how it manifested in its early stages (early in relation to us historically), especially in relation to Norsemen. Christianity and its teaching is so fascinating when you peel down all the dogmas and power plays people try to do with it, and this is coming from me being a lowkey atheist. And don't get me wrong, religion has always been weaved into politics and money and power but in a time where violence was a norm it is interesting to see how the preachings of Christianity clash with it and how for many it represented a salvation. In this episode we see both the priest and the girl ponder the teachings of God and the show is only going to be even more interested in these themes.
