And it was like the best kind of story beat sucker punch because it felt like it came out of NOWHERE. Like everyone was sort of having their little existential "what are we doing together" kind of thing, and then BAM ancient dragon attack. So good.

I will say it's incorrect to say Marisha Ray (Keyleth) was inexperienced because she helped Matt and Taliesin teach the other players in the OG game.

This ep was such a moment during the live play. Like Matt Mercer established and built the city of Emon over years of gameplay. And all in one session he legit tore it to the ground. It was a spectacle. The animated series not only captured the sense of destruction from his description. But Exceeded them. Loved your reaction to this ep.

Also, I've been watching critical role for the better part of a decade and I think that your jokes about Vex and Vax smashing are HILARIOUS. If you ever see all the real life actors all together, I'm 99% sure that they're all hooking up anyway.

I’m not sure where you heard Percy was the game master, but that is not correct. For the entire campaign of Vox Machina, the game master is Matt Mercer. By nexessity, he voices every non-player character at the table; on the screen, he voices Silas Briarwood, Vorugal (Ice dragon), and a host of minor characters.
Percy is played by Taliesen Jade, who is an experienced dnd player. He did write out some backstory stuff, such as fleeing Whitestone due to some tragedy, but for the most part he let Matt Mercer come up with the Briarwood stuff in his own to surprise him when it came up.
Vax’s actor is Liam O’Brien, who also has played a lot of DnD before Vox Machina, and it was his birthday wish to play dnd with his friends that led to the creation of this whole thing. He asked Matt to run a game at the party
The rest of the players had little or no experience going in.
