Xeezar System And Eadora (Book 2) (Page 197)

~~~(Location: Exiting Hyperspace, Xeezar System, The Haedrex Galaxy)~~~
Autumns Fall exits Hyperspace, and that's when I see the great Xeezar system. The amount of space traffic really is something to behold. Aurora does the honors of marking Eadora on the heads-up display.
"You reacted when I mentioned Dorma Industries back on Immortalitas. They obviously hold significance to you. Do you want to talk about it?"
Figures Aurora would pick up on that. She wouldn't know Dorma Industries since it's a company from Earth. A titan in the gaming industry. One that's caused a lot of fortune and pain for those that gain its attention.
Dorma Industries was formed by Fredrick Dorma when the first VRMMORPG came out. He died almost 80 years ago. But now, the company he built has ballooned to epic proportions. They've railroaded Players that didn't sign with them.
The ones that did were made famous and wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. The story ends the same for those that drink from that poisoned chalice.
Some good personal friends of mine have been taken or destroyed by Dorma Industries. I've done damn good to stay off their radar. While they've not done anything illegal, that doesn't mean they're a good company.
Morally bankrupt is the best term to describe them.
"You'd be right. Dorma Industries is from my world, and they're not a company you want to mess with unless you've got the firepower to defend yourself. While we're here, it's best we stay off their list."
The last thing I want is for someone to find out that Scott Autumn is the Last Primordium everyone is looking for. It'd be worse if who discovered me was Dorma.
Aurora knows she'll have to stay in the Aurora Holder while we're on Eadora. It sucks, to be sure, but an AI also brings attention. Especially one as intelligent and unique as Aurora.
"Who or what are we coming here for? You explained a little bit in terms of detail, but now that we're here. I'd like to hear the plan."
The plan is to reveal the true nature of The Primeval Inherent. Eadora has something that I need. A Neural uplink station. I'll be uploading all the information I have on The Primeval Inherent to the Intergalactic Market.
That way, everyone can see the truth and learn they're being manipulated. The reason I needed Bree was to prepare the upload. She'll have all the right people in place to spread the information. That way, it won't get lost or unseen.
"Nural uplink station."
As soon as those words leave my mouth, Aurora takes control of the ship and pops up on the terminal next to me. She's upset.
Very upset.
"You're going to expose your brilliant and beautiful brain like that?! Do you know how stupid that is?! You know there is a risk for permanent damage, right!!?"
Only 8%.
I like those odds, and I can close the window of error to about 4.5% if I make some custom adjustments.
"Aurora, give me back control of the ship."
She definitely crosses her arms and stares me in the eyes. Her miniature holographic form is cute as she does this. She's being overprotective. She ran the number just like I did.
"No, my first priority is making sure you're safe. That's the primary reason I was created."
Oh great, now she's parenting me.
"Don't make me order you."
There is a slight flinch. When Aurora is ordered to do something to me, she can't refuse even if it conflicts with her primary objective.
"Fine, but I'm coming with you. I won't let anything bad happen to your mind while I'm watching."
She gives me back control of the ship. We go through the hurdles and pains of getting a place to land, and as we do. I notice that Eadora is currently in the process of becoming an Ecumenopolis.
It's a term to define the absolute height of a world. And Eadora isn't even the top planet in this system. Dorma has got itself a wonderful place to settle for the most part.
Aurora disappears into the Aurora Holder, and I jump out of the ship. Making my way to the nearest exit of the spaceport. Heading into the city. I walk to the edge of the railing, and I look off the edge. There is no bottom I can see with the naked eye.
That's when I see an advertisement across the ample open space.
A tournament for Mecha's is happening. The grand prize is a brand new capital ship.
Might watch, but won't participate. A technique for Dorma to scout exceptional Players.
