The Reports And Reaction (Book 2) (Page 192)

~~~(POV: Scott Autumn)~~~
~~~(Location: Home, Los Angeles)~~~

~~~(Time: 12:18 PM)~~~
It's a bit past noon, and Jess is cuddled up next to me on the couch. We're watching the news as the information I gave everyone at the convention is reaching the mass gamer population. It's not pretty, but it's necessary. If we're to beat The Primeval Inherent, it's the reaction I need.
"The information revealed about The Parasite during the convention in Los Angeles has sparked many debates and demands for radical movements within The Aeternus Universe. It's clear that The Parasite is far more than anyone realized."
Perhaps for a news reporter on a gaming station. That's the thing about game reporters on national networks. They don't actually play the games, so it makes sense they wouldn't know.
The only thing they do is read the teleprompter and the papers in front of them. However, it's not really my place to judge. Someone got to report the news, regardless of what it is. I'm just glad there is a gaming news channel.
However, forums and chat rooms still work just fine, from what I've found. My attention turns to Jess as I feel her hand run through my hair from the back of my head. Gaining my attention.
I turn my eyes toward her, waiting for a response. However, she's just looking at me with a satisfied smile. Scratching my head gently as the news report keeps going.
"What?"
The confused but happy smile on my face causes her to giggle. With all my intelligence, there is no way for me to know what goes on in other people's heads in moments like this.
"Just enjoying this time I have with you. I know tomorrow will be the last day we see each other for a few days. Maybe even a week or two. You stay in The Aeternus Universe for a long time. But I would too if I could."
The gaming pods monitor the human body when inside. Keeping them nourished and healthy. Allowing for very long play times. However, females who are pregnant are limited. The gaming pods prevent them from being on longer than healthy standards.
Which is something I agree with. Especially considering it's the girl whos carrying my child. Even though we're siblings, that doesn't mean I shouldn't treat her like the woman who is having my baby.
"I'll be very busy for a while, and I don't know when I'll see you again. Should we do something this last day before I have to go back on?"
She shakes her head with a smile, and my confusion grows. Women want to go on dates, and they want to go out. That's what I know, and the fact she's not wanting to do that tells me something is up. Maybe I'm just reading too much into things.
"I just want to relax at home with you. It's something we don't get to do very often anymore."
That's fair.
Scott is in the kitchen making food, and I'm watching a breaking news segment. It's nothing that pertains to us or anything we know about. But it's interesting. I turn up the TV, so I can hear it just a bit better.
"We've just received a report that an NPC scientist who works for Teller-Bravo has information that's vital to stopping The Primeval Inherent. Her name is Grace Virgil, and this is what she had to say..."
I lean forward in my seat to listen to this information.
"The Parasite and The Primeval Inherent are only looking for one thing. The last Primordium. A player out there is the last living member of the ancient race. If we hand over The Primordium, The Parasite will stop."
While the information isn't all that interesting or important to me, suddenly, Scott is standing in the living room with his arms folded.
"This isn't good..."
I stand up from the couch and make my way to him. Running my hand across his back and helping him relax. I knew something was up with Scott and that he was far different from anyone else affected by The Aeternus Universe.
"You're the last Primordium, aren't you..."
It makes sense... He looks at me with slightly surprised eyes. Hey, I may not be a genius, but I can put the clues together. You don't care that much about an announcement that doesn't pertain to you unless it, in fact, does pertain to you.
