It's Coming (Page 166)

~~~(POV: Aurora)~~~
~~~(Location: Inside The Nexus of Knowledge, Primordium Prime)~~~

"There isn't that much time for us to speak. Not with what's coming. The Parasite will be here before long. Scott needs to hurry and learn everything he can."

What Borealis says makes both Durado and I freeze where we stand. In an instant, I bring up Primordium Primes deep space scans, and there is something coming this way. A large fleet of ships. Scans indicate everything on board. All the ships are Parasite infection and Combat forms.

"Why is it coming here!? How does it even know that Scott is here, to begin with!"

It's obvious to me that The Primeval Inherent's main target is Scott. Scott is the key to unlocking everything that's hidden from The Primeval Inherent's grasp.

Without Scott, The Primeval Inherent will never have access to anything that could potentially stop it. He's coming here for his golden ticket.

"Don't worry, Aurora. By the time he gets here, there will be enough time for you to get through the portal leading to The Keynote. You won't have much time, though. When Scott gets out, you'll have to leave immediately."

We can't access the portal without Scott, meaning when he gets out, there won't be enough time to activate it and get back to Immortalitas.

"How the hell are we going to do that if we still have to activate the damn thing!? There isn't enough time!"

Durado genuinely impresses me with his deduction. He's come to the same conclusion that I have. But it was rather obvious.

"That's where you'll come in, Aurora. I built you to help Scott. He can't be in two places at once. Which means you'll have to activate the portal. You have access to Primordium technology, unlike The Patient Observer and myself."

Her words stump me... I always suspected since I could easily use Immortalitas and get around Primordium Prime with ease. But hearing my suspicions confirmed opens up news plans. I could've run programs to see, but I was always too afraid.

"You're the only one that can reach the place where Scott is supposed to go. So while he's busy, you'll have to find it. I don't know where it is. Eternal Acuity hid that information from me, but if you want to risk it. Patient Observer knows. Even though he's not allowed."

~~~(POV: Scott Autumn)~~~
~~~(Location: Inside The Nexus of Knowledge)~~~

Time passes differently here... I've learned so much, and I'm coming to my end here. It also means that I'll have completed the quest regarding The Nexus of Knowledge. But just because my time here is almost up doesn't mean that it's finished yet.

"How much time do we have before The Primeval Inherent reaches Primordium Prime?"

Eternal Acuity asks Borealis this important question. The Parasite has run rampant through the universe, and all that's left is the firing of The Coda Arrey.

They should've destroyed it when they had the chance, but the arrogance of the Primordium has brought about the end of their existence and the life of the universe.

"The Primeval Inherent will be here within the day, and The Coda Arrey has already been fired. The pulse from each installation is sweeping across the universe. Killing the Parasite and all possible vectors for its existence."

I can hear the sadness in Borealis's voice, and I sympathize with her. She and Eternal Acuity were worried about this happening very long ago.

"That means my death is coming soon... I want you to know that you've been my best friend, Borealis... And if there was time, I might even admit more..."

I know the meaning behind those words... He loves Borealis, just as she loves him... For some reason, I see so much of Aurora and myself here... I do consider her a best friend, and I have a form of love for her... One that might grow to be the same I hold for Jess...

"I love you too, Acuity... I'll miss you... I never thought I'd have to live without you, but I'll follow the orders you've given me to the very end..."

The last recorded memory fades as blue energy passes through the room, and Eternal Acuity disappears... I watch Borealis fall to her knees and start to cry... She lets out screams of pain that I never want to hear from the ones I love...

After that, I open my eyes and see Durado... And Borealis...
