The Hamlton Family Leaves Kelromera (Page 145)

~~~(POV: Dr. Emile Hamlton)~~~
~~~(Location: Techese Galaxy, Deep Core, Main Chain World Kelromera)~~~

Dad and I are relaxing on the couch with mom making some food for us in the kitchen. The Parasite hasn't broken through the Quarantine Zone around The Impyra Galaxy. All sentient life inside The Impyra Galaxy has been assimilated by this point in time. "The Starships blockading around The Impyra Galaxy are reporting back." We've been monitoring the Inter-Galactic Network for news.

It's what we're watching right now. The Techese Galaxy is close to Imypra, and the moment that blockade is breached, we're leaving Kelromera. It's that or Teller-Bravo comes after me on Kelromera. It's unlikely, but they probably have a grudge. I outed all their operations and secrets regarding the Parasite and the station and colony in the Gord-Prime system.

Teller-Bravo wanted to keep a lid on what was happening inside the now-dead galaxy. If I hadn't sent out that Class-SZ emergency transmission when I did above Plosis Prime, the Parasite would be spreading all over the galaxy at this point. "I'm getting word that the Quarantine Zone is holding fine, but the Parasite is continuing to test for weaknesses." My body leans forward on its own.

The Hivemind of the Parasite is testing for weaknesses and ways to break out from the Quarantine Zone. It's only a matter of time before it forms a superior strategy and breaks free. Dad is about to say something, but there is a ring at the door. We're not expecting any visitors. Trouble has arrived. Mom takes a peek at the security panel.

She raises an eyebrow, which tells me it's not necessarily a threat. "It's a government official from Kelromera's capital. He's not from Teller-Bravo. The security system scan says his name is Captain Hoover York." That's the man in charge of military forces in Kelromera. Dad and I both stand up and walk towards the door. Mom stays in the kitchen just to be safe.

I'm the one that opens the door. My eyes lock with Captain Yorks, and he gives a small smile. "You must be Dr. Emile Hamlton. Trillions of people owe you their lives for sending that emergency transmission out when you did." He reaches his hand out for a handshake. I give him one, and he looks over my shoulder and towards my father.

He's probably expecting to be let in, and I step aside to let him pass. He heads straight for the living room and takes off his hat. "I'll keep it brief, Doctor. The Council of Strategic Planning and Defense wants your help warding of the Parasite." Okay... That's a big request. The CSPD is formed between all governments if a universal crisis occurs.

If they're asking for my help, then they want someone that's seen and survived the Parasite first hand. Meaning, I'll have to head somewhere that's captured potential Combat Forms. "Sorry, but if you knew what I knew, then you wouldn't be asking me to come anywhere near the Parasite again." My answer is less than desirable, and I can see it on his face.

He places his hat on the center table in front of the couch and looks towards the window with a beautiful view of the jungle terrain of Kelromera. "I know it's not an easy thing to do... But we have no idea what we're really up against. Teller-Bravo has gone completely dark, and we have no one to give us any information about what we're fighting here. You're all we got." Tough shit.

I'm not moving from my position about doing anything near the Parasite. "That's a tough situation, but I'm not helping the CSPD. The Parasite and everything about it that I could gather was packaged in that transmission." He looks at me in disappointment and picks his hat back off the table. Putting it on in the next motion.

Teller-Bravo going dark should be expected after all the things it's done. Besides, there isn't anything I don't know that I didn't put into that transmission. "We can't force you, but if you want to offer any advice about our mission to strike at the Gord-Prime system. Contact me." He says his final piece and leaves. Cementing my choice too.

If they're striking at the beginning of where this all started, then we're leaving Kelromera and getting as far away from Impyra as possible. "Mom... Dad... Pack your things. We're leaving. It won't be safe here for much longer." They'll risk a lot. Even if they succeed, that doesn't mean the Hivemind is still located at Gord-Prime. It could be anywhere in Impyra by now.
