So, you're writing the drums now as well? iirc drums were the only instrument you didn't write on the debut, right? Kai did? Ever since reading that (back in the days of the debut :p) I just assumed that was the case for the other albums... but clearly, you've been learning for a long time. Maybe make a video talking about your 'drum journey'?
In fact, you could make a whole patreon series where you talk about your experience with all of the instruments, your voice, guitars, bass, choir/synths and drums, music theory and music in general.
That would probably be a very low-effort, high-reward option. All you gotta do is think for a while on each topic, make some notes about key memories and points, and then just rant, off-the-cuff
I doubt there is a single patreon who wouldn't love listening to you talk about this for an hour each, or more lol
Point being, the process should require very little time and effort from your side, to deliver something that would make us all extremely happy :) a once-per-month release of 30-60+ minutes would be awesome
Maybe you could build it into a monthly little podcast for the fans. You could have the other old guys on for interviews about their experiences with their instruments and music
Put up pre-views, clips etc on the main YT-channels, and then have the full-length on Patreon and YT-members
This also ties in with what, let's face it, probably has been the biggest issue historically for Wintersun: communication frequency :p at least from my pov as a fan, I don't mind the long waiting times between albums, as long as there's frequent signs of life :)
But keep it to once per month, the entire point is that it's low-effort, meaning you don't have to pour a lot of time and energy into it, while at the same time being able to provide something that is high-reward for us. You get an awesome reward to the patreons, another solid motivation for more people to become patreons/yt-members, and it would probably both be fun for you while also giving some time to reflect on how far you've come now :)
Also, here's my Time II review: "Worth the wait. Nuff said." Again, I've been here since a couple of years after the debut ;)

We'll see... Perhaps closer to the release. But for now, I don't want to spoil too much.

Will there be some guitar riffs soon too? π
I dearly remember pre time 1 days where we got short snippets of full songs! But I think thats too much these days. I want to be surprised and not wear out previews like I did with TFS and T2 π

Yes, it's made with a computer and sampling. Sampling is a process where many companies record, for example, orchestral sounds. They capture sounds in professional settings and then sell these sample libraries as VST instruments, which musicians can use to control the instruments and compose music with MIDI. In the past, these sounds were not that good, and it was hard to get realistic results, but these days, these libraries are improving, and computer power is getting better so they can offer more detailed libraries. Some instruments are more complex to sample than others. Percussion is usually easier to sample, but instruments like violins, cellos, guitars, erhus, etc., are more complicated. - Jari

Wow, Jari, the Thunder God :D My understanding of this process is too little (sorry), but how does it work? Is this all done by the computer? On the debut album I remember that Jari did everything but the drums and then Kai was doing the drum part.

Sounds epic! I could imagine this playing at the start of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
