poll ref #1: milo

Alright, finally got this one done! So this means new poll soon.

Milo is a young dog who left home at 17 after a troubled childhood constantly getting into fights leading to dropping out of school and being given an ultimatum to join the military or get kicked out. They left to [unnamed city], home of the world’s largest fighting tournament scene in hopes of making it big using their proclivity of getting into scraps on the street to wedge their way into getting a challenger spot at The Arena, home of the world’s greatest fighting champions. Once per season, The Arena hosts a tournament open to qualified entrants to fight for a top 8 spot with a cash prize and an opportunity to fight an E tier champion. Victory nets the challenger a spot among the champions that live there who fight on the literal world’s fighting stage to climb the ranks and become the ultimate champion. Now 20, Milo scrapes by working odd jobs and cutting their teeth in underground fight scenes hoping to catch the eye of a recruiter to get their ticket in.

This premise is extremely simple and not really meant to be anything wholly original, but I have this sort of in the background if I want to attempt some larger fight-centric project that essentially would run as a (near) constant tournament arc. That said, the more I thought about it, the more I realized a good tournament arc is sort of built on having established characters you care about mixed in with interesting new freaks who range from one-off fun gimmicks to an expanded cast with new friendships and rivalries, so I’d have to work on a big introduction and establish a setting more interesting beyond “Chapter 1: The Tournament”. This idea has been on the back burner for a long time and to be quite honest my passion for the idea has died down quite a lot, but it’s a premise I have at the ready to bring out for one-offs as needed if I want some fight scene practice and such.
