Video: Quick Start Gaiden: Episode 2

This was honestly one of the more fun episodes I've made in a while. That's kinda just the size of it. Enjoy!

This reminds me of the Compaq Presarios that had the JBL speakers; they had an OS-free CD player in a similar vein

The analogy about the combo toaster-fridges made me think of all the "multicooker" appliances that can slow cook, air fry, steam, etc. It all makes sense because they share the common trait of needing some kind of heating element. A laptop and a portable DVD player both need a screen, buttons, and sound, so their pairing makes sense as well. I wish this kind of many-in-1 device had become more of a product category in computing.

Oh that's a good point, I hadn't considered that possibility.

Just a speculative side-note....as you mentioned, the CR2025-which for those not familiar is 20mm in diameter by 2.5mm thick-is 0.9mm thicker than a CR2016. It may have loosened one of the solder joints connecting it's flimsy aluminum slot to the PCB...and easy fix unless the only way to get to the PCB is to peel off the front label.

Wow, seeing the name Averatec gave me flashbacks to the Athlon-based 3225 I bought on clearance at Office Depot in 2005. Felt like it was made by V-Tech. >_< (I think I used to pronounce it "A (/æ/)-vera-tec", as in 'average tech')
