This one doesn't really need the lengthy making-of Patreon post because I decided I owed some explanation to my audience in general, so I just put it at the end of the video itself. I bit off more than I was prepared to chew with this one, and the pacing and info density really ended up being more aggressive than I would have liked.
Someone described this video as "socratic" - working up from "what is a laptop" to what the 5140 was - and believe me, I'm pleased with that in theory. I felt it was impossible to explain where the 5140 fit in unless you understood what laptops in 1986 were like, and that required a fifth of the video to be a laptop history lesson. But whatever anyone says about longform being popular these days, I feel like if you're not Rare Earth or Folding Ideas or someone like that, an hour and a half is a bit much to ask for a gadget video.
If I had another week, maybe I'd have reshot this to either shorten it or make it flow better or both, but I don't, and I'd like to get off the 100% Compatible train for a while at this point. I'll be lucky if I can ever wring the CGA out of my clothes.
