Project updates

Hi everyone! I have new things in the pipeline.

Almost all the projects from my last update post have turned into disasters due to things not working as expected or me not being able to find parts I needed or just the complexity of the topic exceeding my ability to explain it concisely.

At the moment, I have these things in the hopper:

- How did the earliest modems work... and why have we been using them for 60 years?!

- Incredibly early network-enabled camcorders!  (one of them... takes minidisc.)

- Pocket-sized thermal xerox machines?????? What???

- Modems that can transmit voice and data simultaneously

- A terrible little network fax server

- A... a dialup internet gateway?? that uses two modems at once??? help

I started every one of these thinking they would be easier than the video-themed ones I had planned, and that I could put these out to "buy time" to figure out the others, and then they almost all ended up in the same quagmire. Such is the life I have chosen, this job is hard.

Thank you all for your continued patronage and faith in me!

Just wanted to say I love your channel, have been watching it lots over the last few months. Do you think you’d do any more Big Blue Disk or similar disk magazines? I’ve enjoyed those videos. I also love your history videos, especially the forgotten history one, that was especially great. Hope you are doing well and thanks for making the videos.

I wasn't aware it was possible to add a *clickable* patreon link in the video. I'll look into it, thanks!

All these ideas sound amazing but I just wanted to say that I'm still pumped for the 80's BASIC video and the OS/2 video! I know that I'm probably a minority at this point but I hope that the software side of the channel doesn't disappear completely :) On an unrelated note: have you considered putting some sort of visual cue for the Patreon at the end of the videos? I'm thinking of something like the "support" link with the Patreon logo that Technology Connections uses. I believe that many viewers (myself included) do not listen as attentively in the final "wrapping up" moments of videos, and the link to your Patreon is currently a bit buried in the description. Just a simple clickable logo would be very clear and instantly actionable while still minimally obtrusive.
