Very happy to see the stickers are still up; between that and the video boxes I'm always delighted to see them. That aside, I also just love the mass of that setup; I share your appreciation for how sturdy and intentional the design of a lot of professional equipment (in any field honestly, not just video) looks and feels. Like, just reflecting back to the JVC KY-210, that sort of hefty, angular chassis with every control one would need easily accessible from sensible locations. I keep thinking about how, if I were in charge of some centrally planned economy's consumer electronics department, like part of some kind of latter-day Minelektronprom, how much I'd want to say "Okay, we're making like, three camcorders, and they're all gonna clone professional models but like, make them fancy colors" or "We make one laptop chassis and you bet your ass it has all the ports on it, why would we sell half a laptop?", just, never denying the "home market" access to anything the professional market would have ready access to, because simply because something would largely go unused doesn't mean that someone out there wouldn't want it. Then again, this is why I'm not a product designer or whatever, because I apparently have never met a budget I don't want to blow to smithereens.
