I’ve really enjoyed your travel videos and it’s great to see one of West Wycombe as I grew up locally and know it pretty well; From grandparents scaring me down the caves when I was small, to bunking off school to drink cider on the hill before finally watching my mate get married in the church and seeing the solstice sunrise from the mausoleum with my mrs. Like you’ve said, there’s a lot folklore about the place that can’t be substantiated and I’ve heard of things such as the ball itself to be there to prevent God hearing the congregations thoughts, a member of a death metal band going mad / being possessed after a visit and a tunnel linking the caves to pubs. The British Geological Society did a LIDAR scan of the caves and no secret tunnels were present. https://www.bgs.ac.uk/geology-projects/geomatic-surveys/hellfire-caves-case-study/ Sometimes the church is open and you can climb the tower but not visit the now fragile ball. My partner went up and you can see for miles (I bottled it due to the height). The church itself is pretty normal but locked up due to being near Wycombe. Whilst I do think all the lore is to sell tickets in the 50’s, Sanja is right about it feeling really creepy especially in the caves when you’re on your own and up by the church at night. Keep up the good work with these as they're great fun (although I'm now scared to go near graveyards in case I bump in to an upset robin hood!).
