Ladies and gentle-ozians here we have my second time watching WICKED Part 1 and THIS cemented the movie as a perfect rendition of the play for me, I simply cannot wait for the next part - mainly because that's the part I always forget about. But this movie was spectacular, Ari hit every beat so hilariousoutionously. Cynthia was MASTERFUL in her performance and singing INSANE VOCALS! toe to toe with the original dare I say! The goosie bumps were there the whole time my GOD! Let me know any facts or trivia in the comments because we love to yap and learn. When they act out the wizard reading the Grimmerie in the "Wizomania play", the fake Grimmerie opens like a regular book. This confirms that the Wizard never opened it in the first place because it opens into 4 sections when Elphaba gets to it

When I saw the pop-up book in the beginning, I cried even harder!! I’m a long time fan of the musical and seeing this for the first time in theaters, it truly changed me 💚🩷 I cried the whole film. It was done so perfectly, and finding out all the details and the behind the scenes info afterwards has made it even more incredible!! ✨

She works for the wizard, doing his business and making his ruling possible. She’s one of the wicked ones. If the munchkins knew the truth, they’d be burning her likeness. ”The Wicked cries alone, the wicked dies alone” Glinda sings as she realises she will have to keep up this charade for the rest of her life. No one will ever know her true self. She will cry alone and she will die alone.

2025-01-08 10:51:12 +0000 UTCi know u mean well but plz reconsider saying things like the usage of little people would've been "funny", especially if Boq had been "normal" sized likeee being able-bodied isn't the norm. whilst wanting little people to be cast which is totally fine, a little person's height shouldn't be a gimmick or a bit. the language we employ to refer to disabled folk and folk with different bodies is very important! :) I recommend following aubrey smalls on ig, he is a little person who has great coverage on this, including the ethics of little-people casting in film! -someone who does social work :)

2025-01-08 06:51:05 +0000 UTCin the books it's said that Morrible is the cause of the downfall of the animals, but never explained precisely how. the stage show expands on it by putting in the weather control bit, with the emphasis on her making rain go away, which the movie made a point to include with a dramatic storm being easily waved away. Morrible also says she had to prove herself to the Wizard, and in all versions of Wicked, she is the one who spearheaded the actions to make the animals the common enemy of Oz.

2025-01-08 06:40:07 +0000 UTCpretty sure the munchkins are lore accurate. the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie doesn't share a canon with the Gregory Mcguire novels or the Wicked musical, those are reimaginings already. this is what the munchkins are like in the musical too, this is a faithful part of the adaptation. Making an entire village full of little people just to pay homage to the 1939 movie doesn't make a lot of sense. And yeah, it's also kinda weird, let's be honest about it.

His costar in Fellow Travelers heard banging in Jonathan’s trailer and got concerned, only to find out he was religiously rehearsing Wicked choreography😭 (fellow travelers is an incredible show btw, if you are a fan of queer historical shows and tragic gays oh my god give it a chance)

Warner Brothers owns the copyrights of the ruby slippers and to use them they have to pay a licensing fee. I only know this because of theozvlog on TikTok she’s a wizard of oz historian and collector.

If I remember correctly she does the same thing in the stage production.

The best thing they could have done was not make the movie and instead focus on hiring more disabled actors for any role in any film

The ruby red slippers were an add-in for Wizard of Oz to make them pop more, in the original book the shoes are silver which they stick to in the movie. They do nod to the ruby red slippers when Galinda holds them up during Popular.
