SOF Mobile Support Base Arrives in the Gulf of Oman
Added 2023-08-08 09:24:33 +0000 UTCSpecial Operations Forces support base USS Lewis B. Puller arrives in the Gulf of Oman. The USS Paul Hamilton DDG and USCGC Emlen Tunnell are accompanying. The USCGC has legal authority at sea that the military does not.
Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 26 are deployed with this detachment.
These forces arrived just days ahead of the ~3000 service members transiting the Red Sea with the USS Bataan.
This is the most significant reinforcement of the region since 2020.
