"WAVELENGTHS" - archived textures

Back in the summer of 2020- right when I turned 25 - I had just gotten back from visiting one of the most magical places I know. The Paint Mines in Calhan, Colorado were the perfect setting for me to study and totally nerd out on textural compositions.

Sure, the overall landscape was nothing short of stunning, but what caught my eye even more were the details when zoomed in far more than our daily view. I focused on the grainy surfaces all around the mountains. The surfaces carried so much history from the elements and it was easy for me to get lost in them.

Later on, I snapped a semi-wider shot of a mountain top. A few days later I submitted this image to a worldwide contest. It turned out to place #7 in the Color Award Category of "The Independent Photographer". along with a feature in their yearly book. I was in ecstasy- as I had really only been shooting photography for less than a year at the time.

Needless to say, "Wavelengths" because one of my most favorite and meaningful pieces I've shot to this day.
