It’s for members only, so I don’t think so. But I’ll have more news soon

Thanks for the video. Any chance you’ll be attending the Town Hall on Sunday, May 18? Appreciate you taking us through this crap.

I didn’t know anything about it til yesterday. The FOA paid $500,000 initially, but had they not done that, connectivity would have ended 10/31/24. That payment was to share the IP with AL. There was a memorandum of understanding between FOA and AL. Many different communication barriers there. But FOA and AL agreed to split costs for T-Mobile, The cloud, and a bunch of other things. The FOA (not AL) came up with the split percentage of how much to pay. And until Wednesday, other than the initial payment, T-Mobile was completely 100% paid for by AL, and all of the other data services and peripherals as well. The FOA came up with a number in April of how much they owed, and then dragged AL along like they were going to pay it, and didn’t. I guess it required a board vote. When AL let them know they had to turn off the non-AL cars if they didn’t get payment, the FOA paid the T-Mobile bill, but not the rest, and then demanded a breakdown of the data usage instead of paying the percentage they had provided. There’s no reasonable way to do this. Even so, AL offered to bill for it if they really wanted to go through with needing an invoice. The email FOA sent out was dishonest, and intended to put the blame on AL when FOA was delinquent. I have documented evidence of all of this. I hope this helps

Wow, so glad to be out of this. What I'd be interested to learn more about is some of the why behind the why here. Is this just heads being stubborn? Is this AL not having as much money and so putting forward this bill, or FOA not having the money? What happens to FOA members - I feel like the whole point was to have access to the cloud and data? At this point does that mean that the FOA just collapses? Similarly, I'm technically a FOA member, but I sold my Ocean. I'm sure others have taken the Rivian deal, and so won't be paying dues into the future. Is the FOA's decision on this impacted by an expected reduction in membership, and will this collapse this into the future? Lots of questions. Either way, I'd be interested in seeing what happens at one of their next town halls.
