Early & Ad Free: 12 WEEKS TRANSFORMATION 🤯 Building Our Dream Boat From Scratch (Part 8)

Wowzzaaaa is anyone else just absolutely blown away at how fast this build is coming along?!?! We're 12 weeks in and it's pretty unbelievable to see our dreams become a reality right before our eyes. Delos 2.0 is looking more like a boat than ever, but with our flip date fast approaching there's no time to slow down. We tackle some sweet projects, and although there is lots of work still to be done on the hull and structure, we need to start researching and thinking about some future projects too so we can start getting materials ordered. So we go on a couple field trips and start looking at some hardware, flooring materials, and even make a little trip to the city with the family! We hope you enjoy this week's episode, and while we've got ya here just wanted to say we are absolutely buzzing with excitement for the boat show! Can't wait to see you so many of you very very soon!

Sending love and gratitude to all of you!

Thanks. That's not it but it was a good lead. I found it on google map. It's the Neville Bonner Pedestrian Bridge. It looks like a bridge that opens up, but it's not. It's a stationary bridge.

Haha! 99/1?

Rick Mann

Hey Lowell, I *think* that's the Victoria Bridge. It has an interesting history- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Bridge,_Brisbane

I dunno, we are trying to avoid any type of wood at all costs on the boat. It just the weight penalty and the work required to seal it really. I suppose we could add some interim supports out of angle aluminum, but since Holypan meant for truck beads and caravan floors I'm thinking that 2mm flex is well within limits.

Sailing SV Delos

Ha ha I thought it was 90/10 ?!?!? :)

Sailing SV Delos

Don't forget the 80/20 rule, though! Keep up the great work!

Rick Mann

Happy to help you ring in the weekend, and thanks for the well wishes we are soooo excited!!

Sailing SV Delos

We're getting the band back together!!! Haha we are so excited!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Thomas, and sending all the good vibes right back at ya 🥳

Sailing SV Delos

Awww thanks so much Bill, we feel the same 🥰 And thanks we will definitely have a blast there 🙌

Sailing SV Delos

One more episode with all the final prep for the flip, especially focused on the supports and lugs that will allow Delos 2.0 to get safely airborne, and then the big flip episode will be here!

She really is, such a joy to see her personality and spirit coming into her own every single day. And Kiril really is a wizard, so glad you enjoyed this one!

Sailing SV Delos

May we all live life with the Woo-Hoo mantra!!! Beautiful way of seeing the world!

Sailing SV Delos

I like how Sierra seems to take on all new adventures with the same "Woo-hoo" gusto we've come to love her for!😀😀😀😎

Thinking about the tiny amount of flex on the 17 mm. Perhaps adding a layer of plywood in high-traffic spots like the galley, head, fishing, workshop, etc. might be wise?

William Flower

I hope you guys Travel and Travel and Travel…to see Sierra as a Young Woman 🥰🥰🥰she is a character 🤪🤪🤪 Job well done 🤞🏻 Shout out again to Kiril🕉️☮️🕉️

As someone who's drawn many mechanical bridges for fab shops over the past 30 years, I've never seen one like the one shown at 13:21. It looks like that bridge pivots to open. Is that right? Pretty cool design.

I was thinking about dinner and having a fish fillet, but then I thought, "Hey, it's SV Delos Friday and it's time to hit Play! There's plenty of time after to think about what to eat later in the day." - - - - Heck, since we know the flip has already happened I'm getting anxious for seeing the details. Will that happen next Friday? I probably won't be able to watch anyway since I'll be at the Annapolis Sailboat Show. But, dang, I could bring my tiny lap top and pick up WiFi somewhere so I could watch! But then what's better, the latest video episode, or the real live salty sailors right in front of us? As to today's episode, . . . a lot got done. More plates added, a couple trips for fun and part supply finding! Let's not forget the flooring. I wonder a bit about the 17 mm core flooring. It flexed noticeably while the lighter 18mm barely flexed. Think about years of flexing. Will the 17 mm start to "sag" at some point? Hmmmm Anyway, it's less than a week till Annapolis. See all of you there!

Every time I see Sierra she makes me smile. Her infectious laugh and smile and the way she sees the world around her is amazing. I can't wait to see Delos 2.0 in the water. Have fun in Annapolis.

Bill Dapp

Right On! Glad to see it come so far!!! All the best!!!

Thomas Lengel

Excited that you'll all be together again, so quickly, with Brady, Blue (and munchkin on the way), and Papa Delos. Have a super time in Annapolis.

Colleen Balch

Our Friday evening go to entertainment for these two couch cruisers. Can’t wait to see the progress. Safe travel to Annapolis. We’re so looking forward to saying hi to our salty friends. ❤️
