It was one of the few great moments in this movie. Shady's back because the characters are shady. Subtlety ain't a thing here.

Fascinating movie that's such a product of the initial superhero movie hype wave after the Batman movies. I almost can't believe it came out a year before X-men. And it was the original soundtrack that All Star by Smash Mouth was written for! I think you would have some interesting stuff to say about it.

2025-09-27 02:44:53 +0000 UTCso i have a history with this film, so around 2015 i really got into mega64 and they did a segment on their podcast called joker update, cause the jared leto stuff, it was like wtf has he done now! every week! and every segment i would just walk away being like, what an embarrassment and was already prepared for this movie to be shit and it was! i think the him calling a fan at a 30 seconds to mars QnA very brave for wearing a batman shirt, then doing the shitty laugh is the most cringest thing he did, but then again he did the joker voice to shut down a heckler so......

I don't care where or when it was recorded, if it was back when "people were realer and didn't lie," I believe they are mostly recounting their recollection of events, and their own biases and wants, rather than stating fact. I think Ayer got massively screwed on this, don't get me wrong, but I think he and people like Todd Philips or Max Landis got to this point where they didn't want, they needed, superhero movies to be "realistic" so they'd be taken seriously by the critics in their own minds. But this brings nothing new to the table that wasn't brought in the early 2000s "our superhero movie has murder and sexcrime, like a real movie does!" crop of "edgy and gritty" fare. It's ironic for a spin-off from a pro-wrestling channel, but it's simply amazing to me how much movie creatives are obsessed with being perceived as "real," to the detriment of their own careers.

Majority of the time I get frustrated and give up.
