Tomb Kings Changes Showcase!

Welcome to the preview for the first half (yes, this is only HALF) of our upcoming Kings and Raiders update to SFO Grimhammer II! This half of the update will feature the Tomb Kings and all of the changes we've got in store for them!

We currently have all of the changes you read about here in-game already, but they have not been bug tested, balanced, or polished as of yet, all of which we shall be doing as we work on finishing the Norscan half of the update.

We will also be releasing the Beta for this half of the update on Monday, 9/21! We hope to have the full update out at the least before the new Wood Elf DLC drops!


GENERAL CHANGES

TOMB KINGS LEGIONS!: Our Tomb Kings Legion system has a handy infographic.


In addition, the Legions will also be released as a standalone vanilla mod!


Tomb Barque by ChaosRobie integrated: We've integrated the Tomb Barque unit by ChaosRobie into SFO! You'll be able to recruit them as every faction besides Followers of Nagash (more on that further below...) and Khatep's faction will exclusively gain access to them as mounts for Liche High Priests. Speaking of...

Lich High Priest: A brand new generic lord type, available for all Tomb Kings! The Liche High Priest has access to Shadow, Nehekhara, Light, and Death magic. They have a fully unique skill tree too!

Changes to starting armies: Now that we've properly rebalanced the Tomb Kings, our previous change of granting an additional starting army has now been removed. Instead, Dynasty unlock techs now take 10 turns to unlock instead of 15. With Legions in play, your early-games should be a lot easier, and the reduced research time means you get more armies mid-late game. And speaking of Dynasty Lords...

Unique Dynasty Lords!: We've changed each Dynasty lord to be truly unique. Each one has unique weapons, mounts, and skills reflective of the buffs their Dynasty provides. They're more like mini-legendary lords now than just a Tomb King with a unique ability!

Awaken Abilities: Every unit in the Tomb Kings roster has received an "Awaken" ability. They are very strong passive or active abilities that have an initial cooldown, so you cannot make use of them at the start of battles. Ward Save removed from Realm of Souls to compensate for this.

Ancient Kingdoms: An entirely new section of the TK building tree that allows you to unearth the ruins of ancient Nehekhara. These buildings are dependent on their own main building chain separate from the actual main building chain, cost Canopic Jars to construct, and can provide strong factionwide effects

New Skills!:16+ new skills for Tomb Kings (the lord type), and additional new skills for priests, necrotecs, and princes!

And more minor changes like end game rewards!



But this is not all! Those are only the general changes coming to the Tomb Kings this update... we've also gone through and added entirely new mechanics, units, and features to the campaigns of each of the Tomb King's legendary lords!


SETTRA CHANGES:

Divine Riches: A new resource/mechanic exclusively for Settra! You gain Divine Riches from a post-battle option, and this resource is needed for several new technologies and dilemmas. This dilemma will trigger every 25 turns, and allow you to spend increasingly higher amounts of Divine Riches on 4 choices of buffs.

22 new technologies: Going with the Divine Riches system are 22 new technologies for Settra. They finish instantly and cost Divine Riches to research. Each one is based around the new "Awaken" abilities for TK units, and lowers the initial cooldown for each respective unit.

Scaling bonus when fighting Chaos as part of his trait.

Unique legion unit: The Hawk Legion of Settra. Starting army has 1 unit of them


ARKHAN CHANGES:

Necromantic Changes!: The Followers of Nagash have been given a very spooky facelift. The Followers of Nagash can no longer recruit Chariots or Carrion... however they now have access to Cairn Wraiths, Crypt Horrors, and Mortis Engines from a new building chain! All of their characters now spread +1 vampiric corruption, and the public order building chain has had it's effects tweaked.

New unit buff skills: All Followers of Nagash lords now have unique skills that buff the factions vampiric units.

6 new technologies to unlock: Requiring constructing all of the Great Pyramid landmarks, once you've built them all two final choices open up to you...

THREE unique Legion units: The Glowing Ghouls, Nagashizzar Guard, and The Wights of Stonewrath Tarn, which Arkhan starts with 1 of!


KHATEP CHANGES:

New Cult Dilemma: Khatep starts with a dilemma allowing him to pick from 4 major factionwide effects. Every 40 turns these effects will reset, offering Khatep a chance to change his choices.

New Mortuary Cult Actions: Available only to Khatep, you can use canopic jars for a wide variety of uses, such as trading them for gold, or replenishing the all health of every unit in your faction in a single turn!

Tomb Barque Mount for Liche High Priests and Liche Priests.

New technologies that have factionwide effects on Legion units and Canopic Jars.

Unique Legions unlocks: Khatep unlocks the Legion units not through landmarks, as he is far from Nehekhara, but through research. Because he is exiled and so far from home, he can only recruit these units once unlocked from port buildings. Starts with 1 Sphinx Legion of Numas


KHALIDA CHANGES

Vampire Hunt Mechanic: Khalida can now engage in battles against powerful Vampire lords! She has a new special section in her tech tree dedicated to hunting Vampires. Once you complete one of these hunt technologies, a powerful Vampire lord will come out from their putrid lair to face Khalida!

Vengeance Resource: Defeating these Vampire lords will gain you a new resource: Vengeance. Each point of Vengeance that Khalida has acquired will give her a permanent stat boost, as well as lowering her ability cooldowns and granting her additional charges of...

Sacred Spawn of Asaph: A new ability for Khalida that allows her to summon powerful snake-guardians of her god, Asaph into battle!

Unique Legion recruitment: Khalida unlocks her Legion units through a section of the tech tree, with each technology costing the new Vengeance resource. She can recruit them from Major settlement chains.

Unique Legion Unit: The Legion of the Asp! Khalida starts with 1 unit of them.
