About the Alternative Faces

[see larger image here]

I think most people understand my point of view with the Alternative Faces project, but it's clear that many don't and to prevent misunderstandings, I figured I would try to explain it better here.

"Why release them one by one?"
The bigger the mod, the more overwhelming it is to work on. I love working on big projects and it's so satisfying to release a huge mod BUT I get overwhelmed, stressed and burnt out very easily and it happens at least once on every big mod I work on - which in turn makes me feel unproductive and shitty when I have to take a step back. Having small things like this I can work on and release while taking a break from large mods keeps me sane, and in turn it gives you extra content.

"Why are they paywalled?"
The Early Access NPCs are available to the Silver tier and above as I release them one by one, until I have created 10 of them. Once I have reached that number, I make an installer for them and release them on Nexus as Alternative Faces where they of course are available for free for everyone.

"The old version is hotter."
My aim with these remakes is not to make each NPC more beautiful than before, but rather more realistic and unique. Some will be made to look older, some younger, some uglier and some will just be fine-tuned a bit. And yes, some will be made more attractive too. Whatever I think suits the character best.
If you prefer the old versions because you find them prettier that's all good, you can keep using them! The entire point of this project is in the name - Alternative Faces - they're optional. You can pick and choose whichever ones you want in the installers, or you can skip them completely and just use the old ones. I will say though, that regardless which ones you like better, the new versions are of higher quality and are much better made. It doesn't necessarily show that well in my usual comparison images where you see both versions from the front, but the main flaws of the old versions are clearer from the side. I have made hundreds, maybe thousands of faces as this point and I've simply gotten better at it. Would be kinda sad if I hadn't!
The old versions barely look human to me anymore because people don't look like that. I don't love all the new remakes I have made either and I might revisit a few after they're all done, but at least they don't look like they were made in a Temu sweatshop. :'D

I really appreciate that :D

Frankly these go so hard. We love an almost imperceptible difference against the greater games backdrop that makes the overall experience far more immersive. Like I'm absolutely downloading these and then I'm never going to notice the difference to the point that I eventually forget they're even modded but I'll be god damned if smile lines on my middle aged npcs isn't peak immersion

TLDR; Working on these keeps me sane, they don't cost anything and the old versions are poorly made compared to what I am able to do now, but you're free to use whatever version you prefer.
