2026-01-22 09:31:25 +0000 UTCjust for context around the timeline/their ages—they're both 17 when they first meet (december 2008) at the international prospect cup. shane's birthday is may 10th 1991, and ilya's is june 15th 1991. so over the course of this episode: they meet at 17, then 6 months later at the draft (with the infamous sweaty gym scene) they've both just turned 18 since the draft happens at the end of june. then another six months pass (now it's december 2009) and they play against each other for the second time in the international prospect cup. after that, another six months pass (now it's june 2010) and they've both just turned 19—time for their first hook-up. then another 3 months pass (now it's september 2010) and we see shane with his parents having lunch. then we have a vague, relatively short time-skip to show them playing against each other for their first face-off, which shane wins. then another four months pass (now it's january 2011) and they're at the all-stars game (shane playing for team north america, ilya for team europe) and they hook up for the second time—after 7 entire months lmao—and make plans to meet in two weeks (which would have probably happened somewhere around mid-february). obviously that doesn't work out. finally, another 4 months pass (now it's june 2011) and they meet on the balcony in vegas after shane wins rookie of the year. they're both 20 years old during the final scene of the episode. hopefully this helps!
