He is found family and thinks of Qian as his saviour therefore the most important person in his life. It is only very recently that his idolization of Qian has morphed into romantic love. Qian very much views Yuan as a brother who he loves dearly platonically. It’s going to take him a long time yet to deal with his feelings for Yuan.
