Sorry everyone! Merry Krampus!
Can't believe you guessed the twist of it being a police interview so soon, yet they still managed to shock you with it!
Yes, the acting is bad on purpose. It's just like all those old movies with the bad acting and mistakes. I love this episode so much! I really enjoy things with purposefully bad acting and mistakes. I find it so funny.

Well, you've been watching IN9 far too much to spot what this really was, though you didn't quite nail just how dark it was! Happy Christmas!
The director is Sir Derek Jacobi, legendary actor of British stage and screen. I think he's the only person (other than Steve or Reece) to play different characters across the show, though next time he's actually on screen. He'll crop up in Dr Who in a few series time.
None of the actors are in on it; they think it's a normal cheap TV horror story. The crew on the other, hand, they all know. Reece's character had a voice over to do, which is why he rushed off at the end.
Or, of course, they did know. Reece and Steve will never say I'm sure!

The style of filming is straight out of 70s-80s TV, with a definite Tales of the Unexpected feel to it. They even filmed it on period-appropriate equipment.
Worzel Gummidge was a children's show about a scarecrow, played by Jon Pertwee (the third Doctor), who got into hijinks. The idea of missing out on that job being the catalyst that drove the director into snuff movies is hilarious.
