HP/LOTM: Visionary - 399

Chapter 399: Farewell, My Father

"Aaaah!"

The dragon threw back her head and roared. The air she pushed out formed a shockwave that sent Astheno flying.

"You... you changed your surname! You married that Prewett without my permission!" Astheno, thrown aside, ignored his pain and seethed with fury.

"Father, you are so narrow-minded. When a wizard grows strong enough, not just surnames, but even the world itself can be changed. Strength is the only foundation!" Arthursi said, her dragon form sneering. She opened her mouth and unleashed a blast of dragonfire.

The breath, blazing with light and heat, reached Astheno in an instant.

"Protego!"

Astheno barely managed to cast a shield to protect himself.

But the dragonfire collided with the barrier, and white light flickered violently.

"Boom!"

A thunderous explosion echoed across the plain, leaving a massive crater in the ground.

Arthursi spun and returned to human form. She reached into the air, and a golden staff appeared in her hand. She stepped slowly to the edge of the crater, looking down at her father, battered and torn.

"A..."

"Stop!"

Astheno tried to cast a spell, but Arthursi whispered a single word. Her mind power surged, turning her thoughts into reality. She reached out with her other hand, and Astheno’s wand flew into her grasp.

She stepped into the crater, raised the staff, and pressed it against Astheno’s neck.

"Wait, Arthursi! I did it for your own good! I am your father!"

Feeling the coldness radiating from his daughter, Astheno stammered, trying to change her mind.

"My father, from the start, you came here intending to eliminate me as a threat. Second, after losing so many Death Eaters, do you really think Tom Riddle will let you live when you return? And finally, what price did you pay Tom Riddle for command?"

Arthursi’s deep blue dragon eyes flashed. Astheno’s mind was instantly under her control, and he began to spill secrets.

"Astoria. I gave her to the Malfoy family, along with the remaining wealth of the Greengrass family, as tribute to the Dark Lord. In return, she allowed me to lead this operation and promised me a child with her blood if I succeeded."

Astheno’s face was filled with obsession, as if he could already see himself returning in triumph and standing before Tom.

"Tch." Arthursi’s dragon eyes showed deep disgust. She looked at him as if he were trash.

She raised the staff, and the tip began to glow with the light of a standard attack spell. Arthursi deliberately lifted his trance, so he would not die too easily.

"It will be quick. Better than being tortured and killed by them, isn’t it?" Arthursi said coldly.

"No, don’t kill me, Arthursi. Everything I did was for you, for the continuation of the Greengrass family," Astheno sobbed.

"You never did anything for us, Father. You only ever did it for yourself. Do you remember the first spell you cast at me when we met just now?"

Green light flickered in Arthursi’s eyes—the pure, extreme killing intent from the Killing Curse Astheno had fired at her.

"Enough. As head of House Greengrass, pull yourself together. Don’t disgrace your name. If you choose a side, accept the consequences."

The white light gathered. Boom! Another explosion rang out.

"Farewell, my father..."

A headless corpse fell from the sky. Arthursi sat down, pale and drained, as if all her strength had been sucked away.

A grey shadow appeared in the air. Arthursi threw her arms around it, and tears streamed down her face.

The shadow gently patted her back, and the comfort of an angelic presence soothed her sorrow.

"Is all this part of your story?" Arthursi asked, leaning against the shadow.

"No. I never weave stories about you. I swear," the shadow said, gently wiping her tears.

After everything was done, the shadow prepared to vanish, but suddenly felt his face cupped. Then, a long, deep kiss was pressed upon him.

After a long while, Arthursi let go, wiping her lips. "Hmph. Not a loss."

The Queen stood up, activated her psychological invisibility, and flew toward the Burrow in the distance.

In the hazy realm, Avalon—the mental server.

The alchemical array monitoring the mental server suddenly sounded an alarm!

"Spit!"

Oliver spat out his coffee, jumped up, and rushed to the control room, not caring about the coffee splashed on him or the broken cup.

"What happened?" he asked the Stone Slab keeper in the control room.

"Director, for some reason, the server’s hardware suddenly heated up. Oh? Now the temperature is dropping again," the keeper said, scratching his head in confusion. The two watched as the server’s temperature returned to normal and the alarm stopped.

......

Elsewhere, Arthursi easily slipped into the protective circle around the Burrow.

Inside, the Order members were gathering their things, preparing to leave.

"Arthursi?" Hermione ran up and grabbed her hand.

"Who?" Molly frowned, looking at the other Order members, but they all shook their heads.

Snap, snap. Arthursi snapped her fingers twice. "Storyteller, lift the veil from their minds."

Everyone who knew Arthursi suddenly remembered her, and a collective shiver ran through the group at her methods.

"So who exactly is she?" Moody asked. Many in the Order still did not know Arthursi.

Ron stepped forward to introduce her, while Arthursi pulled the suitcase from her pocket and released Harry.

"Harry!" Hermione turned and hugged him tightly.

"Let’s talk inside," Molly said, ushering them into the house.

In the Burrow’s sitting room, the group gathered around Arthursi, waiting for her to explain. Many kept their hands near their wands, ready to act.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Arthursi Prewett!" Arthursi smiled at them.

"Prewett!" they shouted in unison

"Aiden never came home all holiday. He was off getting married?" Ron said, stunned. "But he’s way too young!"

"It’s not what you think. I’m only using this surname for now. Otherwise, the Greengrass family’s formalities would drag me to Voldemort’s side."

"Choosing sides as a pure-blood head?" Those familiar with the secret nodded.

"But what about Harry? Why did you go to him before us?" Moody was not so easily fooled. He cut straight to the heart of the matter.
