Also easy to misinterpret, especially in the heat of the moment. That collapsing stuff is HUGE. I think lelouch basically collapsed the majority of the tokyo settlement to destroy a huge amount of Cornelia's army. It was built like that for earthquake resistance, which he exploited. They do mention this a bit later but in my personal experience its really easy to write off and forget.
