Hopefully you've already seen the first part of this series with the almighty Vanessa Johansen - and like that wasn't enough, today you're in for yet another ride! π€ πβοΈ
So unlike the last time we chilled and did some photos, we're not indoor this time around. We have done something outdoor before ( π) but back then, it was like November or something, so we wanted to do another take on an outdoor shoot - and what's more obvious than going full on western and cowboy? π₯³π€ ππ»π΅
She already got the horse, Allan, who is such a legend I must say - so all she had to gather was some different cowboy-inspired clothing (obviously with a sexy twist... because why not? ππ€·π»ββοΈ)
We met up at the stable and went for a short walk from there, into the woods in which she pinpointed a spot for us to shoot at.
The sun was absolutely there on a blue sky, which as mentioned on this recent post, can be a bit tricky to work with - but if you take a look at the photo below, you can see how I once again did the trick of turning the model away from the sun and making it highlight curves, hair etc for me on the spot. π€π€π»
(Above; I've highlighted where the sun hit Vanessa directly and because of the harsh shadows which would occur if she faced towards the sun, I turned her slightly and making the sun create some beautiful highlights on her on the spot. π)
Because we shot in the middle of the day and the sun was at it's highest - it did move because of the hours that went by.
At one point it angled a bit too much for it to function as I wanted to, so I made use of an assistant holding my reflector πͺ, as illustrated on the drawing below. βΊοΈ
(Due to the angle of the sun I had to angle myself when shooting Vanessa, which meant I had to make use of a reflector on one side of her)
Everything was shot on a Canon R5 shot mainly with the Canon 24-70 mm f./2.8 L USM III lens - but I did make use of the Canon 70-200 mm f./2.8 L USM III lens too tho, on photos like #04 or #05. βΊοΈ
As you can see on the behind the scenes photos, even thou the sun was there and the heat was on, it wasn't as 'warm looking' as it is on the final results. That's because I cranked up the Kelvin in the post-process to make it even more "Southern looking" and to get the idea of it being shot in the summer. πποΈ
(Above to the left; The lovely assistant for the day, who also happened to be an experienced rider and could take care of Allan while he wasn't in the frame. She was such a champ and the best!! ππ»π To the right; The cowboy hat which I was wearing because of the heat and direct sun)
Part two of this shoot will release next week if everything goes according to the plan. βΊοΈ
Please feel free to ask away about whatever you want to know about this shoot! βΊοΈ Technical stuff, practical stuff, tips or tricks - or simply just let me know what you think. π₯³ππ»
