Your submissions for the 'The 20/20 Experience' series with Nicoline Sophie Edit Challenge !

As you might already know, this months challenge was photos from my photoshoot for M! Magazine, with the very best Nicoline Sophie, from which you were given five free raw-files to download and play around with. 😁

The rules were simple: 'You were all given five free raw-files of mine, to process the way you felt the most'. 🤓🤌🏻🔥

So basically you were all given completely opportunities to edit just the way you wanted. 🤷🏻‍♂️🥳 Nothing is wrong - everything is absolutely right! 😁👏🏻 There wasn't really that many submissions this month, so it's gonna be a short run.. 😅🙏🏻

Enough talk, let's just head straight into your submissions:

Patron J_Wilkins:

You submitted two photos, with very different styles. ☺️
The first one here being in colours, got a mixed 'warm and cold'-toning to it, and you've "flattened" it out a bit, by raising the shadows quite a bit. In fact, in my personal taste, I would have kept some of the dynamic in the photo, by letting the shadows be dark and vise versa. 😁🤷🏻‍♂️

You've done a bit of skin retouch, which I like very much!! 👏🏻 Your use of 'Liquify' tho is a bit too much.. 🙈 (Look at the radiator, her waiste, the lines in the background next to her head or just her face)
Liquify is a GREAT tool, however overdoing it makes it too obvious, and is something you really have to be on the lookout for, since it's the last thing you want people to notice. 😅🙏🏻

So next time; keep an eye out for straight lines and curves, when using Liquify.

The second submission is a bit darker - both in the styling but also in the mood, you've achieved. 🤌🏻👀

I find this one very interesting..
Again here you've used Liquify, but much more toned down here which doesn't make it too obvious at all. 👏🏻

You've made minor skin retouch adjustments and put on some vignette, it seems? Am I right? 🤓
The way you've flattened to contrasts and toned out the darker tones is very well done, if you ask me. 😁 Very very cool submission I must say. I like the black and white feel you've given it.
It somehow stays very classy, yet timeless.

Patron Quinzin aka Dennis:

Similar to Wilkins' submission of this photo, you've aimed for a bit of a warmer feel and toning. 👏🏻😁 There are some slight green-ish tones in it too tho, which I guess you either achieved by lowering the red tones in the shadows or just tinting it a bit green in the shadows, right? 😅🤷🏻‍♂️

A fine submission without that many adjustments it seems. No real use of Liquify or skin retouch.

I find it super interesting that both of you lads, went for a BW-conversion of this photo - yet in two very different ways as the final result! 😱🙈

Your submission, Quinzin, is much more filled with contrasts. The bright areas are VERY bright (in fact, a bit too bright if you ask me since it looks like they are close to be 'burned out'.. 😅) - and the darker areas are much darker.

I like the idea of raising the bright areas this much, to emphasize the female body. I mean, the light from the window really forms her I must say. 👌🏻😁

To me it looks like you've darkened the original a bit and raised the "Hue / Saturation", making the colours pop a bit.

My original photo was much brighter, but I really like your colors actually. Combining the cold tones, with her red lingerie and warm skin. 👏🏻 The bedsheets almost looks a bit blue-ish, yet it really makes the model stand out and catch all the attention she deserves. 🥳🙌🏻

Really great job actually. I had to look at this a few times before I understood your way of editing it, I think. 😂

This one is a playful one! 🤪🙌🏻

When I opened it up the first time, it reminded me of those 90s posters from NYC with the only colours visible, being the yellow on the taxis. 😁 A technique used very much back then.
And if I recall it currectly, you did submit another photo where you used a similar technique, some months back, didn't you? 😏🤷🏻‍♂️

I would like to ask you tho; did you 'Color select' her lingerie manually, or was it done automatically via a slighter in Lightroom? 🤪

A grainy sepia-toned oldschool vibed submission! 👏🏻😁 I like the creative way of thinking.

I'm not sure the setting on the photo, matches the idea of going a vintage/oldschool way of edit, but it's a fun take on the challenge and I like it very much. 😁

The heavy use of grain is a bold move, Quinzin.. 🤪 What was your thoughts behind this?

-----------------------------

THAT WAS IT, FRIENDS! 😁🙌🏻

Thanks for participating in this fun little game. ☺️ There will be many more in the future, so stay tuned, since the raw-files are timed exclusives for PREMIUM*. (*Afterwards they are only available for Tier 3 supporters)

To all of you who wrote me telling that you were worried of others looking at your submissions; Don't be. ☺️🖤 It's super fine to be totally new in the game and just using this as a practice to get better, due to the feedback. That's what this is all about. ☺️

NEXT CHALLENGE WILL BEGIN ON ANNOUNCED VERY SOON!

Now, let me know in a comment what you think about all the wonderful submissions or maybe get inspired to join for the next round! 🥳👇🏻
