Hello everyone, welcome to the Vesna patreon.
Vesna is the protagonist of a game I'm making called "DOG NIGHTMARE." To build out the game's setting and get a feel for the characters, I started a little webcomic, which also stars her; this patreon supports both projects, though the primary goal here is to finish the game.

What is DOG NIGHTMARE?

The game is a 3rd person action game with a low-fidelity graphical style. The combat and level design is heavily influenced by FromSoftware's Dark Souls (specifically the first one), but the game also draws from the Nintendo 64 Zelda titles and Twilight Princess.

DOG NIGHTMARE is relatively light on story, and focuses mostly on engaging exploration and combat encounters.

The game takes place during a nightmare the main character is having. While the comic is set in a relatively grounded 13th century bohemian castle, the game plays everything more fast and loose with realism due to the dream setting, and tries to imagine what a woman living 800 years ago would fight in her night terrors.

It's a comic. Read it, it's cute - though of course it isn't necessary to do so in order to enjoy the game.

What membership supports

By joining the Patreon, you are enabling me to continue working on this project full time. The games industry is difficult to find work in right now; as such, I depend on income from fans to keep this project alive. Otherwise I will have to shelve it and concentrate on finding other work.

What membership gets you

There's a public discord server where updates to both the game and comic are published. Membership will grant you various tiers of deeper access to this same discord, allowing you to see behind the scenes content, exclusive footage of the game, and even stuff that may not be revealed to the broader public until the game releases. As development progresses, additional perks will open up, such as the opportunity to add your own design to the in-game heraldry editor! All tiers will also be thanked in both the comic and game.

What membership doesn't get you

This being - for now - a solo project, and dependent on public funding, I cannot 100% guarantee you will see a finished game. I will give it absolutely everything I have, of course - I want this game out badly, it's cool - but it will take time and a lot of effort. Worst case, if funding doesn't reach (or slips below) the threshold that lets me pay for rent and groceries, I may have to turn to other sources of income, which could spell the end of the game.

Additionally, your generous funding of this game doesn't make you the director. While I hope my game will be enjoyed by everyone who tries it, it may end up not exactly what you hoped for - it cannot be all things to all people.

Finally, there is no guarantee of exclusivity. Getting this game out is my priority, but I may work on other games with friends, or seek additional employment if patreon doesn't cover my expenses. Please understand.
