Sometimes I want to be contrary for the sake of being contrary. :P Of course, I say that because I'm drawing this new comic in a landscape configuration, rather than the traditional portrait configuration.
It's very rare that a comic is drawn this way. There's some X-Men issue that was, but the one I'm most familiar with is Spider-Man #16, which was the last Marvel book Todd McFarlane drew. There were also a handful of landscape pages in Batman #5 (I think it was #5) that Greg Capullo drew, which is an awesome issue because you have to physically turn the book (some pages are upside down!) while you read, which contributes to the disorientation that Batman feels.
Okay okay. Enough of that talk. The point is that I'm going to draw as many pages of this story as I can. The whole Earth 2 Justice League, or "Crime Syndicate of Amerika" as they're known, is just a really cool idea, and the Justice League: Earth 2 book is great!
Ultraman (Superman), Owlman (Batman), SuperWoman (Wonder Woman), Johnny Quick (Flash), Alexander Luthor (Lex Luthor), etc etc. Evil versions of our heroes. It's pretty sweet!
Let me warn you in advance - from what I've read of the story, and I haven't read it all because it's quite long, the sex doesn't happen for a little while. Don't worry, I'll be finishing the Black Canary book soon, but I want to add some pages to my portfolio that I can use for other paying jobs, and non-sexual pages work great for that! So I do have an ulterior motive, but this story feeds two birds with one seed (killing birds with stones is pretty cruel, huh?). And it WILL have sex.
And the Crime Syndicate are just cool. I'm sticking with DC for now because I like them better. It's just too bad the movies have been underwhelming. Fingers crossed that Justice League next year is in line with the ComicCon trailer, which was really great! Then they went and grittied up the movie's logo, which may bode ill for the tone of the movie, but maybe (hopefully) I'm wrong about that.
Is this a journal, or what? Let me end it now.
Just wanted to let you know what's going on, what I'm going to be working on (and why), and hopefully stop using parenthesis so much in my writing.
Have a SUPER weekend. Sounds better than "have a BAT weekend", doesn't it? ;)
Cheers.
