S95B Brightness Hack & Calibration

WARNING; I DO NOT RECOMMEND MAKING ANY CHANGES TO THE SERVICE MENU, FIRMWARE, OR SOFTWARE AS THIS MAY HARM YOUR DISPLAY AND VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!!!!

THIS IS SIMPLY AN EXPLANATION OF WHAT I DID FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CHANGES YOU MAKE OR DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR.

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER OR CHANGE ANY SETTINGS IN YOUR SERVICE MENU!!!

PART 1 - BRIGHTNESS HACK

1. Connect phone with smart things app

2. Bring up number pad and type Mute, 119, Ok

3. When menu pops up type 1234

4. Scroll down to Advanced and hold volume up until more menus pop up

5. Change 144Hz VRR to 1 under SVC, Option_HDMI

6. Change Maxlux1: 155 to 138 under SVC

7. Change Ana Peak2: from 683 to 1023 under EPA

8. Change Default PLC Liminance: 48 to 70 under Control, QD2 Option

PART 2 - CALIBRATION & 144Hz Unlock

This will calibrate the display to a color temperature of around 6500K. It will also color balance the display so you can accurately edit photos and videos in HDR at 144Hz.

WITH HDR & AUTO HDR ENABLED IN WINDOWS!!!

1. Go to Game Mode, HDR Tone Mapping, and Disable HDR10+ GAMING, and enable Game HDR

2. Go to Picture, Expert Settings, Color, & set Brightness: 50, Contrast: 50, Color: 25, Contrast Enhancer: Off, Color Tone Warm 2, & Peak Brightness: High.

3.  Under White Balance Set R-Gain: -8, G-Gain: 0, & B-Gain: -5.

4. Under Color Space Settings Set Color Space: Custom & Color Gamut: DCI-P3.

5. Set Windows SDR Content Brightness to 100%.

6.  Make Sure 12bit Color is Enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel under "Change resolution" (It will set it to 10bit at 144Hz).

7. Set Dynamic Range to Full.

8. Click "Customize" & check "Enable resolutions not exposed by the display", and then click "Create Custom Resolution".

9. Type in 144 for the refresh rate, select CVT reduced blank under the "Standard" drop down, click test, and press Ok to save it.

10. Now on the refresh rate select 144 under "PC" and hit "Apply".

It worked for me, but you must have Gsync enabled first, and if your display no longer works reset your CRU and reinstall your Nvidia drivers.

Anapeak should only allow for higher peak brightness. Full screen is barely affected.

I know you moved on the better display with the s95C , but if you give some advice on this that would be great! Thanks for all the info

Some people have suggested reducing gamma due to anapeak adjustments overbrightining. Do you have any thoughts?
