Great reaction, thanks as always. So Iβm sure itβs popular (I havenβt looked yet) but Iβm guessing itβs in black and white primarily to highlight the color parts: the memories, the hindsight. I assume Scorsese read LaMottaβs biography and saw he was never happy in the present, knew he regretted past actions (over and over). So, reality for him being black and white makes sense there. Now Iβm gonna check out if Jake ever commented on that huge part of the film. Edit: perhaps my interpretation is wrong cuz it sure ainβt popular. Hell, I think Iβm right and Marty didnβt wanna admit it to Jake irl.
