2025-03-22 00:19:35 +0000 UTCI just realized that the sound of a reel being spun is not a memory I have. Even though I went to plenty of movies that had it. So...severe brain damage confirmed?

2025-03-21 20:55:54 +0000 UTCThe content of the reel pretty much summarises what Kurtzman knows of classic Star Trek.

2025-03-21 20:00:24 +0000 UTCIs it weird that I feel the absence of the sound of a reel being spun and projected? It’s like the vhs recorded episode not having that horrible hiss over everything

2025-03-21 19:51:36 +0000 UTCThis was fun. Remember, there was a time that this B&W transfer from the original film would’ve been the highest fidelity image of Star Trek one could own. The over the air broadcasts were … 240p? And you can see the whole frame from which they trimmed it down. And I personally love seeing damaged film. So scratchy and satisfying.

2025-03-21 19:42:55 +0000 UTCI love this. Thanks for enriching the universe.

2025-03-21 18:46:08 +0000 UTC1000' mags are a typical length in film production (I know this isn't an actual camera mag) and that's the size of the reel Mike is holding.

2025-03-21 18:36:16 +0000 UTC"Michael J. Pollard, he was in "Bonnie and Clyde..." Typical Jay and his obscure horseshit movies... the rest of the planet knows him as the rat catcher from "Split Second"!

2025-03-21 18:04:48 +0000 UTCAssuming 24fps that’s like 90 feet of film a minute? So 900 feet of film? Neat.
