2024-09-06 02:18:30 +0000 UTCThis video reminds me of a movie commentary with Kurt Russell and John Carpenter, where they talk about a director's vision and how it becomes apparent to the audience. Debbie Does Demons is a true Donald Farmer "film", the other ones are like proto Donald Farmer. Something about the way he pays attention to the more mundane stuff before people start convulsing and vomiting, his older movies look like they were made almost by a different person. On his true Donald Farmer form you watch five seconds of his movie and you know is Donald Farmer, even if the scene doesn't have any seizure or vomiting yet. I am not complimenting his vision, but he managed to make garbage with a personal voice in it.

Named after the character from the 1870s Sheridan Le Fanu story, supposedly the first lesbian vampire story. Or more likely, named after the same character from 1970s Hammer vampire movies. You're masters of the 1980s-2000s, but there's stuff outside those decades too.

I think Vampire Cop is really an attempt at reaching RLM quintessence : Glenn Danzig's sound mixing, Samurai Cop's actress and copping, everyone's favorite camcorder, and even that guy's padawan tail, paying tribute to the original Plinkett reviews. I literally can wait to see Donald Farmer's other movies.

2024-09-02 20:23:57 +0000 UTCThe only thing that's "impressive" about Donald Farmer's "career" is that he's been able to do what he does for almost 40 years now... how he's managed to not get any better at what he does in that time is absolutely baffling, though. There are interviews with him on YouTube that paint a pretty clear picture that he does not care about the quality of his movies at all and how he sold them to distributors with titles and cover art early on and how they always made a profit, that seem to be pretty telling. I'm not even sure he has fetishes or kinks, he probably just puts stuff in them that worked and was to lazy to think of something new...
