EB02 Week 1 Power Rankings – A New Meta Begins

With EB02 now in players’ hands, the One Piece TCG metagame is already shifting in exciting ways. Early local results, online league performances, and community testing are starting to reveal the shape of the format—and it’s clear that new contenders have arrived. Among them, Green/Purple Luffy and Yellow Vegapunk have made the biggest early splash, both delivering strong, consistent results thanks to the synergy and support introduced in the latest expansion.

That said, this is far from a format dominated solely by the new. Familiar faces like Shanks, Teach, Bonney, and Purple Luffy are still performing well, adapting their game plans and tech choices to keep pace with the newcomers. Meanwhile, Lucci, Enel, Lim, and Smoker are carving out their own space in the EB02 meta, whether through favorable matchups, tech innovation, or simply leaning into solid fundamentals.

It’s still early in the format, and there’s a lot of room for shifts and surprises. But what we’re seeing already is a diverse, competitive environment where both new ideas and tried-and-true strategies can succeed.

🥇 G/P Luffy – Clearly Powerful

The top-performing deck this week is Green/Purple Luffy, which has wasted no time asserting its dominance in the EB02 landscape. A natural evolution of ramp-based tempo decks, G/P Luffy thrives on consistency, flexibility, and rewarding decision-making. The deck's structure, built around a strong suite of searchers and draw tools, creates a near-constant stream of card advantage.

Pilots with sharp sequencing and solid fundamentals will find this deck both powerful and punishing—especially for opponents who can’t answer its quick tempo swings. With favorable matchups across most of the field and a ceiling that only grows with each turn, G/P Luffy is firmly the deck to beat heading into Week 2.

🥈 Shanks – Holding Strong with Flexible Power

Coming in just behind the leader is Shanks, a deck that has proven time and again that flexibility and experience go a long way in competitive play. The current Shanks lists are leaning into control-focused variants, tuning their defensive packages to better manage threats like G/P Luffy while still keeping the deck’s trademark tempo pressure alive.

Even though it didn’t claim the top spot, Shanks continues to maintain strong win rates across a wide field and remains one of the most-played leaders in the format. In the hands of seasoned players who understand its tempo and pressure points, Shanks remains a reliable and high-performing choice.

🧠 Blackbeard (Teach) – Control Master

Blackbeard continues to hold down the control archetype with confidence. Its ability to disrupt the board, tax opponent resources, and grind out long games makes it a compelling pick for players with a patient, deliberate playstyle.

While G/P Luffy can present some challenges, Teach remains strong against much of the rest of the field. Players who have experience piloting this deck are able to capitalize on small misplays and create windows of advantage that gradually snowball. Teach isn’t flashy, but it is methodical, stable, and rewarding for those who master its lines.

🦾 Lucci – Back in the Fight

Despite losing some key cards in the previous banlist update, Lucci is making a comeback. The deck has adapted well, finding new lines and leveraging its inherent strengths—particularly its board pressure and removal options—to stay competitive.

Most notably, Lucci now boasts a favorable matchup into G/P Luffy, which is helping to drive its resurgence. The deck pressures both wide and tall boards effectively and has enough flexibility to adjust to different game states. Its return shows that with smart deckbuilding and strategic play, Lucci still has plenty of fight left.

🌿 Bonney – Steady Hands in a Shifting Meta

While Bonney hasn’t gained much directly from EB02, it continues to shine as a consistent, fundamentals-first deck. Known for its resource management, clean sequencing, and efficient play patterns, Bonney remains a safe and steady choice for players who value reliability over volatility.

In a meta full of swingy, high-impact turns, Bonney holds its own through precise execution and strong tempo. It may not be the flashiest option in EB02, but its performance speaks for itself—Bonney is still a threat in the hands of disciplined players.

🧪 Vegapunk – A Rising Contender

Vegapunk has come out of the gates swinging, quickly rising through the ranks with help from key EB02 upgrades—especially the improved access to card draw and support pieces. The deck now feels more consistent and better equipped to handle a variety of matchups.

It doesn’t always win in explosive fashion, but its versatility, steady card advantage, and endgame potential make it a dangerous option. While it still leans on good sequencing and the occasional lucky pull, Vegapunk’s core strengths have finally aligned to make it a legitimate metagame contender.

🚀 Green/Purple Lim – Respected Contender

Lim continues to prove that it belongs in the upper echelon of competitive play. After an undefeated Regional run, the deck has solidified its position as a flexible and dependable pick. Lim excels at building tempo, establishing board control, and adapting to various opponents.

While it doesn’t always dominate headlines, its well-rounded game plan and strong performance history give it staying power. With EB02 now shaking up the field, Lim remains a safe bet for players looking to combine consistency with counterplay potential.

Enel – Climbing Back into the Top 10

Enel has found its way back into the top 10, despite the recent ban of Raigo, which had previously been a key piece in its toolkit. Thanks to new support in EB02, especially the latest Enel character card, the deck has recovered some of that lost consistency.

Historically, Enel has performed well in the early phases of a new format, when the meta is still finding its footing. That trend seems to be continuing here. Whether it will maintain its spot as the format settles is still uncertain, but for now, Enel is making a strong early impression.

💥 Purple Luffy – Steady, Strong, and Still Standing

Purple Luffy may not be the focus of attention this week, but it remains as solid and dependable as ever. With a strong midgame and a minimal need for adjustment, the deck continues to perform consistently without major retooling.

The latest format has seen some subtle improvements to its early game, allowing it to keep pace with newer threats like G/P Luffy and Vegapunk. It may not be pushing boundaries, but its proven track record and stable performance make Purple Luffy a top-tier comfort pick for many players.

🔥 R/G Smoker – Rounding Out the Top 10

R/G Smoker rounds out the Week 1 rankings, remaining a reliable and flexible deck with a good range of matchup coverage. The deck thrives on its ability to switch gears between aggression and control, allowing it to pivot based on the pace of the game.

What gives it particular value in this meta is its strong matchup into G/P Luffy, which helps it stand out in a crowded field. Though builds vary, the core strategy remains effective. Smoker continues to be a smart, adaptable choice for players who want a deck that can handle just about anything.

Closing Thoughts

The EB02 format is off to an energetic and diverse start. While G/P Luffy leads the charge, it’s clear that the meta is still wide open, with both new decks and seasoned strategies proving they have what it takes to compete. Each of the top 10 decks brings something unique to the table—whether it’s raw power, refined control, flexibility, or consistency.

As players continue to refine their lists and discover new tech, we expect to see the meta continue evolving rapidly. There’s plenty of room for shifts in the coming weeks, and we’ll be watching closely to see which decks rise, fall, and adapt in response.

Stay tuned for Week 2—the EB02 meta is just getting started.
