Hi all,

Over the weekend I was doing a quick google and found something that was pretty shocking to me - it turns out that most of the videos here that were hosted by my video provider "SproutVideo" were being indexed, and were available for anyone who googled "Begrove".

Once the shock wore off I did some investigating and found that it was actually part of their T&C that any video made "public" (which you need to embed it on Patreon) will be added to Google search.

I've found a workaround, whereby I make a video public, add it to Patreon and then change it to private. This should result in it still streaming on Patreon but will no longer be googleable.

The unfortunate side effect to this is that the way I was doing "download links" no longer works. On computers, it is still possible to download the video from within the player itself - to do that you start playing the video and once the player controls are present, the download icon is on the bottom right, next to the total play duration.

For mobile devices, native streaming appears to work in web browsers but not in the Patreon App. Please let me know if this is not the case for you.

If you still wish to use the "download link" as it appears in the body of the post, or download content on mobiles, the content posted before August is now password-protected, and that password is "ClassicGrove".

Moving forward I'll be adding the video as an attachment rather than using SproutVideo for download links to save the hassle.
