New dawn breaking

New dawn breaking

Axel was making his way through the corridors of the government complex, with some difficulty. Things were a mess. People were putting out fires left and right, some areas were blocked with make shift signs, because of the danger of things collapsing. He couldn't have been happier.

Every now and then, a group of government officials would pass, hands on their heads, accompanied by a few of his men. He had given orders to treat all the prisoners with a certain amount of respect, and he was glad to see everything going down rather smoothly, a little pushing and shoving not withstanding. His mind clouded however, as he turned a corner and looked right into one of the restricted areas. God: the rubble! Huge blocks of concrete, glass everywhere. For a moment he closed his eyes, praying that no one had been present at the time of the impact. At least, they had put out a warning three minutes in advance.

The elevators were out of order, so he took the stairs. The control room would be on the third floor, he had been told, and there were people working hard to restore one important connection, he knew.

As he entered the room, most of the monitors appeared to be dead, with a few of them showing snow and humming white noise. One of them though was alive, and showed a clear picture. His heart jumped; his people had really been able to fix it! He looked away from the screen, pulled up a chair. He wanted to be able to take this in fully! He sat down, turned the swivel chair towards the screen, and watched.

There she was! The President ! Wearing the dress he had made tailored for her one and a half year ago, by an American specialist. It was a knee length dress, made of shiny black leather, and it kept her arms locked behind her back, neatly folded away in a leather pouch. Oh, how many times had he sat staring at the thing, drooped over a mannequin, back in their hide out, imagining her in it. And now, on the day that everything had come together, on the day of the revolution, this last wish had also come true!

His hand went between his legs while he looked at the screen. It showed this all to familiar prison cell. She was pacing up and down in it aimlessly, and he remembered exactly how much steps it would take through that whole rotten hole: five! Well, maybe six in that skirt...

The sound was still off, but at one point he could tell that she was hollering at the heavy steel door, at the top of her lungs apparently, even raising herself on her toes. Nothing changed. Her days of barking orders were clearly over. This was going to be a new dawn in a number of ways!
