Hello (again)! It's been a while (again), but no matter, for I have more to share with you.
Turns out my laptop was beyond repair, so I ordered a new one, which took the better part of 3-4 weeks in total, hence the lil silent spell. Despite this delay, I am more than happy to tell y'all that I'm back on the horse with some new updates about the sequence:
Characters: I spent a while trying to find models to feature as the extras/other factory guests before realizing that it took up WAY too much time and no matter how hard I tried, they just didn't seem to work. The new characters I had introduced didn't have enough breathing space to become their own, so I decided to feature the original cast from the film, including Wonka. You are all so familiar with them and the film already sets them and their personalities up so well. This way, the characters don't also distract from the main feature.
Background/Set: By far the most stressful and time consuming part of this sequence has been the background. Since the inception of this project, I have wanted to recreate the Inventing Room in my own image, like I do with all other images of mine. However, this has proven to be FAR more difficult that I had thought. The challenge is trying to create something new, yet is definitely Wonka-esque, realistic and fits with the camera angles I've chosen for the berry bodies I've already made. There is a limited pool of screenshots to use that feature the other factory guests and I have to design the room around them and the lighting has to match and etc. Long story short, if I continued to try to make the Inventing Room myself, this project would take the rest of the year. I want to use the time I spend making my art wisely, and so I have decided to use a mix of my own background design elements and screenshots of the original 2005 Inventing Room. Once again, you are all familiar with this room and seeing it and the characters we all know and love together with the new berry bodies I've made has finally made this sequence feel much more cohesive. It feels like a true remake.
I am still unsure about the release date and, trust me, I wish more than anyone that it was already done. Progress is being made and in pretty decent time too. There are many reasons for the progress, including making changes to the story, script, layout/format, and focusing on my life outside of the community/art, but I am feeling more confident than ever that I'm on the right track to getting this done.
In celebration (and as a reward for waiting for so long), I have included a never-before-seen part of the sequence (seen in the last image, which is a temporary image to show the body off), as well as a fully completed page and a look at the next partially completed page. I've blurred the main features just to keep some of it a surprise. The blurred parts can be found in earlier posts on this page anyway :)
I want to take this moment to thank each and every single person who has continued to support me during the last month and a bit, whether financially via Patreon or with a like, comment, message, etc. Your support is so stupidly touching that I get emotional every time I think about it, so thank you to all!
Glad to be back, and, as always, your opinions on my content are welcomed!
Hope to hear from you,
Bubble-Boop
