The Six Tier System
Added 2025-01-01 23:21:20 +0000 UTCTierlists are fun. But they're also surprisingly hard to get right. The steps between them need to be just right to make them distinct, but not too crazy either.
This has always created challenges in PoE1 and after a lot of thinking, testing and calculating I decided to go for a mostly unified approach in PoE2!
The 6-Tier-System: S,A,B,C,D,E
The S-Tier being the best tier (your classical SHWING sound + red star, white background, red borders+text). The other tiers all have lower volume, less bright colors and contrast, size etc.
S: 55ex+
A: 12ex+
B: 3ex+
C: ~1ex+ (this is THE exalted orb tier)
D: 0.2ex+
E: less than 0.2ex

The system has several advantages:
Enough tiers to hide them gradually as the strictness of the filter increases.
It's really easy to explain what tiers get hidden on what strictness
For most tier-ists usually sufficient items are in each tier
The jumps are significant enough to notice a difference
Not too many tiers and the system feels pretty intuitive
Works well with the prices in PoE2
In my upcoming PoE2 filter this system will be used in most tierlists: currency, omen, essences, delirium emotions, soul cores etc.
Of course there are also exceptions to these rules:
Some cheaper 'essential items' like runes and transmutes/augments will not be part of the system and instead count as 'supplies', which uses a slightly different appearance and strictness progression.
Essential items like regal orbs and alchemy orbs will be 'tied' to a certain tier and not allowed to be changed by the economy
Uniques have a slightly different system
Of course you'll be able to adjust all that in the upcoming filter and filterblade updates!
Thank you for your support and for reading
