Rewatching the episode I can see the Jays dancing wasnt as solid as everyone else. His vocals though are amazing. Unfortunately I think some people just don’t want to see him succeed and that’s a shame.

Well, they cover tattoos in public television because they are actually censored by some guidelines! in korea, during the joseon dynasty (1300-1900 sth like that) tattoos were used to mark criminals. Offenders would get tattooed somewhere visible both as a mark of shame and so that other people could be aware of their wrongdoings and avoid them. Then, in 1911 korea was invaded by japan and many japanese organized crime gangs (the yakuzas) started operating in korea. As you may already know, yakuza gang members are heavily tattooed, so, once again, tattoos were associated with crime. Since tattoos are both associated with crime and the japanese, many koreans, especially older people who actually lived through the japanese occupation, can feel uncomfortable or be upset by them, so they don't put them on display on national tv. Thankfully, times are changing and more and more people are accepting about tatoos. However, due to korea's conservativeness and historical reasons, some still don't like them very much. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. You seem to be interested in learning about korea so i figured you might want to know.
