My recommendations for a good night's sleep ♡

Hello everyone!

I hope this week is treating you well! ^-^ I wanted to share with you today a few things that I've found really help me get a good night's sleep since I know many of us struggle. I have been at both ends of the scale when it comes to sleep during my life but mostly on the sleepless side - here are some things I've found help me get a good sleep.

1. Bedtime Routine

Having a routine at bedtime has helped me get into the mindset of 'I'm going to sleep now'. It may seem trivial but having set rituals that I do every night before sleep really helps my brain wind down. I typically will have a tidy downstairs so everything is clean for the morning (the more movement the better as you're using up any extra energy you might have) until I feel pretty tired. Then I'll wash my face, brush my teeth & do my skin care. Every night I look out of my window to see if I can see the stars and just take in some fresh air before I get into bed. By the time I get into bed I'm feeling calm & it's really helped me!

2. Shower/bath & fresh sheets

Honestly. This is just the sure-fire combo to get a good, deep sleep for me. Over time I've bought different bedsheets and they were always the pretty cheap ones since that's what I could afford. I invested in some really nice, high thread count sheets last year and it has been a game changer. They're so soft & heavy which feels really comforting - after a shower/bath is even better because your whole body is relaxed & warm too which helps you sleep. If you are able to I would 1000% recommend investing in some high quality bed sheets (or investing in anything for your bed really) because good sleep is priceless.

3. Pillow mist

I was so sceptical about 'pillow mists' before I found the perfect one. Like, surely a 'mist' isn't going to help me sleep but there are a couple I've found that smell so comforting going to sleep. I would recommend either Feather & Down Pillow Mist or The White Company 'Sleep' Pillow Mist. I got both as gifts and I can't sleep without them now!

4. The Alphabet Game

Hear me out. This is a game you can play by yourself or with someone else but it works either way. If I'm having a night where my mind is racing & I just can't settle, I either need to listen to a story or play this game to take my mind off everything. Here's how you play:

- Pick a category, for e.g. animals, colours, plants, movies etc.
- You now have to go through the alphabet & find something to match each letter so maybe if you picked animals your first letter is 'A' so you might pick aardvark! Chances are you'll hit a tricky letter & spend so long thinking about it that you drift off. Works for me every time. :3

5. The list

This can apply to any time, not just sleep, but sometimes I can't sleep because I'm worrying about something. I'll physically write down (not digitally, there's something cathartic about physically writing) what's worrying me. Then I'll make a list of all the possible branch offs that I'm worrying about. Once everything is out of my head I can now see it & I'm a little more rational about things. I'm not pinging from one worry to another without fully considering each one. Then I'll go down the list & start crossing out the things I can't control. Whatever I'm left with, I make a plan to do one thing for each worry to try to resolve it. This way, when I get into bed, I can tell myself I've already given time to these worries & I know what I'm going to do about them tomorrow. It might not work for everyone but as a chronic worrier it's a coping mechanism that I've developed & benefitted from for a while now.

And that's it for my recommendations for now! If you guys have some things that help you sleep please do share them below so we can all see/try them! Sleep is so important & affects every area of our lives. Wishing you the best sleepies. 💜

Thank you beautiful peaches I will look for that.thank you love for always sharing yourself with us. I'm so glad you got your recording booth. Loved your most recent audio if that wasn't real emotion you deserve an Oscar baby girl. Love to you

I don't make my own tea for bedtime from scratch but there is a lovely tea by Whittards called 'Dreamtime' - always makes me sleepy!

You did an audio where you made sleepy tea do you do that if so what do you use in tea?

Also acupressure has been helpful for me too. Can’t post a picture here but here’s a helpful resource, i usually use the wrist one for sleep: https://www.sophieyoungacupuncture.com/resources/2020/4/7/acupressure-for-anxiety-amp-sleep

I have invested in LED colour change lighting, and essentially bathe my brain in pure red light before I head off to bed.

If only you could listen to your own voice in the same way a lot of us likely do. Your steps would be: find semi flat surface, search Peaches audios, play. It is like a cheat code how easy it is to sleep. My brain used to wander through a bunch of things. Now, I am out in five minutes. Every, single, time.

I love love this post! Something I do to help myself sleep is I talk to myself until I fall asleep. It sounds funny if I say it like that but actually when I’m talking to myself out loud I am reaffirming myself on things that I might feel insecure about that might have happened during the day and sometimes I find that in the process of that self pep talk, I start to find it difficult to be coherent and that’s how i fall asleep haha. As a daily routine I use pillow mist too, lavender and have a scent diffuser running with peppermint while I sleep (mostly to keep the bugs out but it also is calming for me). +1 with investing in good bed sheets along with quality bed mattresses and pillows. An incompatible pillow especially can really really mess up sleep too. And I also tune in to Peaches’ sleep aid stuff: the mage one and the miracle 40+ min improv audio which usually help to knock me out. Another super efficient way of helping me to feel sleepy is for me to look at javascripting. I’m a commoner who knows nothing about scripting and just thinking about the complexity of it already makes me tired. As to why I still have wretched sleep even with these in place, it’s mostly bc i’ve had too much screentime during the day and my brain is overly active or I lack discipline and have not stopped looking at my phone even though it’s bedtime. (Something I’m working on though — to stop screentime at least 1 hour before going to bed) Jokes aside, though I’m not joking mostly, I do hope everyone gets a good night’s rest because that is so crucial for everything; inclusive of mental and physical health and it really affects our mood when we wake up and our performance for the day. Take care and sleep well peeps!

Thanks for the recommendations but for me and reason why I can't sleep are some of the obvious, I feel pain somewhere on my body, I feel sick or I just havent found the right asmr video to help me get off to dream land

Thank Peaches. Though, I'd add listening to Peaches sleep aids to the list myself...
