wasn't planning to work tonight but I hit a small bump with PC building so some stuff got delayed, so i decided to stream instead.
For updates on my build, mounting the heatsink is still painful in 2024, I screwed up two attempts and ran out of paste, so I had to wait on some more thermal paste arriving so I could actually do it.
It arrived today, albeit late, and I didn't have the nerves for it tonight beyond mounting the heatsink so I'ma just resume tomorrow. I still need to:
Mount the mobo to the case (the hardest remaining step)
Connect the power / cable management (tedious but not hard)
Make sure I can get into BIOS; if I can, install the boot drive (cloned from my current build; if it doesn't work, I just reinstall windows)
After Windows is loaded, move my old hardware into the new machine (1 NVMe, 1 sata SSD, and GPU.)
Late term I'll eventually get another NVMe drive and move my OS to that.
