Patreon and commissions going forward

Well here we are, on the verge of a big change that was long overdue.

First of all, I'd like to thank all of the current patrons and commissioners who supported me through the last years. You all literally saved my life a couple of times and it's thanks to your kindness, patience and support that I managed to build up a good base for me to be able to live off my silly doodles. I'll work the hardest on the last Patreon batch before the change so I hope you look forward to it.

Now, as for what are my plans going forward, I'm gonna give you a rundown here: keep in mind that plans may be tweaked or changed depending by how things go, so that I can adjust things until they feel just fine for both myself and the people wanting my art, commissioned or otherwise.

Regarding Patreon, I'm dropping the reward system altogether, as it became clear through the years, that it'd just cause people to cling to their slots (understandably so and I'm actually flattered they'd do that u///u) in fear of being unable to hop back on board later. Instead, Patreon will become a front for small-sized support that will give certain perks like early access to art, access to WIPs or bonus sketches I may not post around in public galleries and I'm even thinking of polls and cameos to spice things up. Overall, it'd be an easy way to access everything regarding my art in one single place as well as a way to be in contact with me in an easier manner.

Of course, given how successful they proved to be, I'm gonna try and work on monthly, long sketched comics, since people seemed to like those a lot <3

The main source of income will shift to commissions, but I'm completely dropping the first come first serve system I used so far. Given the high demand (again, I'm so flattered about this xwx;), I saw people often frustrated and anxious about missing opportunities to get a commission slot for me, so instead I'm gonna go for a system that'll work like this:

Basically, once per month, I'll post a public link that'll give you access to a Google form where you'll be able to put in a general idea of what your commission will be so that I can know how to contact you and what the price would be: The link will be removed once I've reached the number of slots/level of income I need for the month. I pretty much am gonna pick the commissions I'm gonna work on each month, so as to keep things varied, as wepp as to better manage my time and hopefully have enough of it to have both commissioned work and personal art alongside each other.

Down here you can also find a slightly upgraded price list. The big change is just mostly regarding the coloring prices, for now that's all I'm gonna change. I plan to post a better and clearer price sheet in the coming days:

CLEANED UP SKETCH - 35$

SHORT SKETCHED COMIC (4 panels max) - 50$

Additionally, every month I'm also gonna open for a set number of hours for art slave sessions. I'm thinking to get around 10 hours each month. If I see I can get more, I'll increase the number. This one option will stay first come first serve, as it's very limited depending by how many hours people may want to get.

Of course, the rough sketch streams are gonna stay roughly the same, being held every couple of weeks and with low prices, to give more chances to people to get something from me <3

As I said before, plans may be tweaked or changed depending by how they go, so that I can fine-tune the experience and make it a healthy work regime that will improve what my gallery will have to offer.

As for when things will take effect, I'm gonna overhaul the Patreon perks in the next days, so that they can be ready for the end of the month, while you can look forward to me opening the first wave of commission slots in the first half of September. I'm gonna announce a date once I have a clearer idea about other plans of mine.

This should be everything, hopefully I didn't forget anything. If you got questions or suggestions, please, feel free to hit me up. I'm admittedly terrified about this change as I don't know if I'll be able to handle everything properly, but I sure will try my darned best <3

Comments

Agreed, making changes is always tough to do but you make some very good points in your reasoning.

Good luck, Sparky! Loving the changes, and hopefully this'll alleviate people's woes about chasing comms, as well as giving yourself breathing room overall.
