2022-05-07 16:59:41 +0000 UTCIt's as thorough as 40' can be; and exemplary in clarity as always, despite the complexity of the topic! On a personal note, I was sorry to hear that the Sethians regarded the Old Testament as not having anything to do with the real character of God. Though it may very well be read in a Zecharia Sitchin way, It is not akin to Sophia to reject that God possesses sets of opposing qualities like sternness and gentleness. Then again I could understand the Gnostics in that also, if we are to think of the conception of Ialdabaoth as the primordial genesis of the erring thought process that led the ego to identify itself apart from God and begin to sin. Then we could say, surely, an ignorant humanity creates imperfection in its domain and the backfire of man's own misdeeds starts to be perceived as the wrath of the Creator whilst His face is hidden. Such a metaphysical Ialdabaoth can be seen as the originator of much of what happens in the Pentateuch indeed. Thanks for making me think (and write) about this.
