This is Lauren and I've just arrived in Phoenix. I will be attending Lori's hearing tomorrow at the Maricopa courthouse before heading back to be with my family.
Thank you everyone for your understanding during this time of loss. I've been in a sad space, but your kindness has been such a lift for me. Thank you.

2025-04-05 23:06:10 +0000 UTCSee John, I TOTALLY agree with you, about her being manic-y (don't know if that's how you spell that lol) I work in Mental Health and Addictions and I work with patients that get manic-y so I was starting to see some similarities with how Lori was acting back in the middle when she started getting cornered about things. Like she was in the body cam when Rexburg came to her townhome 1st looking for JJ. And then I also thought she sounded manic-y in her Police interviews after Charles death. I definitely feel that it is wayyyy stronger now, but... I dunno 🤷♀️ What do you think? Do you think that she was showing some milder signs of mania back then? Do you think she gets manic when she knows that people are on to her, or when she feels cornered? 🤔 She gets so defensive, but manic-y as well... I am just curious, I always respect your opinion and analysis. You have so much knowledge and I appreciate you sharing all these things with us!! Thank you both for everything. What a find this is. Dr Sigmond Freaud worked on her. Changing ovaries etc. she believed she was married to Jesus Christ which put her in the mental hospital. So much of it is not him straight up denying anything, only recontextualizing it: she let me come in her trailer when she was pumping once so I couldn’t have made her uncomfortable other times or yes, I cast my best friend as the gynecologist and invited my billionaire backer producer to be on set that day but she put her sister in the movie- this is a false equivalency. She didn’t cast her sister to play his urologist in a scene where he was simulating nudity from the waist down…. Also, yes BL and RR are bigger stars but JB was the director and partially owned and started Wayfairer (the production company) so for filming he had much more power than her. Also, she has Jenny Slate and the younger Lilly who will testify for her in her amended complaint. At least I hope if you all cover this it wont just be pure misogynistic slop of look at what a mean girl she is, she is awful in any and every way…burn her!!!!

The BL situation is complex but I really think there is so much misogyny underpinning the online narratives. Whether you believe Baldoni paid for the astroturfing and hate campaign or just pondered it, at the base of destroying her credibility are so many women hating assumptions and moves!

Also she knows she murdered all those people but thinks she was justified and also justified in lying about it, remember they aren't sins if you are an exalted being, us mere mortals would never understand hence she has to lie about it,, she is deluded about the religious elements - the motivation for the crimes -,she has no question about how those people died, and this is why she comes across as so defensive

Usually that is done privately. But this case could show that nowadays you can hire a company to publicly gaslight another individual via social media. And that the damage it does can be immense. People need the truth. And they need to see how easily the truth can be warped. You could address how the public can approach news on social media with critical thinking and delve into why that is the only way we should be approaching news on social media, or news anywhere. I think that this skill is vitally important because of who our current president is and how he seems to be attempting to gaslight the entire nation. That might seem like a bit of a reach, to connect Blake Lively with President Trump. But both are attempts to sway at the public opinion. I’ve been listening to coverage of the case on Law and Crime Sidebar and if the claims from Lively’s camp are true then Justin Baldoni sounds like a dangerous person. Walking into her trailer unannounced while she’s breast-feeding, pushing for more sex scenes that are not in the script and outside of what she agreed to. And then when she tries to put up boundaries via official channels in a professional way, he tries to destroy her career. Didn’t we see this already play out with Kesha? Harry Weinstein was not that long ago. How do we end up in the year 2025 and see such open misogyny?!? How is Lively different from Tippi Hedren? Hitchcock destroyed the rest of her career because he didn’t get his way. Documentaries on the topic talk about how directors could get away with things like that back then. That’s bullshit! There is no such thing as “back then.” It’s still happening. And if it happens on such a public scale to someone like Blake lively, what hope to the rest of us have that don’t have her resources or clout? I’m not a huge fan of Lively, I think I’ve only seen one of her movies. But she is my fellow woman. She is being harmed (in my opinion). And that makes me very, very angry. Women need a win right now. I would argue now more than ever before. I have listened to enough episodes to know that you both practice humility. But part of being humble is recognizing your abilities. The public doesn’t know who to believe. But they will listen to you. Finally, I was thinking about how many times y’all have mentioned that these destructive behaviors don’t just happen overnight. I wonder how many are waiting to see how this turns out before they bring up their own past experiences and allegations against Baldoni. How many people has he already crushed to get where he is?

And condescending - too much - bossy, trying to make us take on his grandiose ideas or suggestions for us. So when John mentioned her state it did make me think of my friend. He isn’t violent- but when he’s like this (he can go 5 years well without issues) he has been a victim of violence because he’s so bombastic with the wrong people. With Lori though- she seems to have a big bucket of disorders- on top of being bipolar.

2025-03-13 21:29:03 +0000 UTCI'm so excited that you're going to discuss the Blake Lively case!! I was very obsessed with that case and I sort of still am, but I've backed off a little. I can say that I think Blake Lively's attorneys are really not performing in the way that I think high powered attorneys should perform in federal court. I practice in federal court almost exclusively and some of their requests are embarrassing and over the top. Other than that, I really don't know what to think. I did believe Blake at first and then did a 180 when Justin's defense team dropped their evidence, but I remain open minded. I do come at this from a perspective that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are much more powerful than Justin Baldoni. And I come from the perspective that Blake has been sexually abused in Hollywood since she was very young. I've read and followed the Hollywood gossip about Ben Affleck and Harvey Weinstein with her. And I put her husband in that category too of taking advantage of how young and attractive she was on the set of Green Lantern. And how he continues to control her since they've been married. Who knows if any of it's true, though if I'm being honest, I believe most of it. I feel a lot of pity for Blake Lively and right now my sympathy is with Justin Baldoni in what I see as a smear campaign against him by a more powerful man (Ryan Reynolds) and woman (who's power is derived from her husband and partly through her in with Vogue magazine (which I've subscribed to for decades). I loved your take on Amber Heard, Dr. John! You definitely opened my eyes on that one. So I look forward to your thoughts on Blake Lively.

With someone who is highly delusional or experiencing psychosis, their perceived reality can be so different from ours that they will make decisions we would find unfathomable purely because they’re basing those decisions off of completely different inputs than we’re working with. If in Lori’s reality JJ, Tylie, and Charles really were no longer her kids and ex but zombies, and she really is besties with God who has given her not only permission but a mandate to do what she did, then yeah, she probably made the only rational decisions she could living in that “bonkers” reality. To think about it another way, if you watch the walking dead, you don’t think of the humans killing zombies as committing murder, because you have bought into the “reality” of the show. What Lori did is bonkers and evil to us existing in our reality, but to her it was probably the only reasonable response within her reality and as far as she’s concerned, we’re the crazy ones. Doesn’t make it right, or excusable. But it does offer an alternate explanation for how she can do such horrible things and have no regrets or remorse other than “psychopath.”

It is so funny…he gave very specific answers about Lori’s hair and makeup for the interview. Andrea Canning asked Keith how he knew all the details, he exclaimed “because I asked!” Hilarious. Long story short, prisoners where she is now do have access to limited types of makeup products and hair dye. She had rolled her hair overnight to get the curls. For her previous trial and court appearances, she had used candy and other items as “makeup”. I imagine much bartering to get watermelon or cherry flavored jolly ranchers.

"she herself elicits scant sympathy, such is her solipsism and lack of self-awareness" 2. Philosophy the view or theory that the self is all that can be known to exist. "solipsism is an idealist thesis because ‘Only my mind exists’ entails ‘Only minds exist’" What is a solipsistic person like? Someone who's solipsistic is so focused on their own wants and needs that they don't think about other people at all. You could also call a solipsistic person selfish or self-centred. Yep, that certainly fits LVD's narrative..... In addition to that, she routinely dodges and meanders and outright denies even the things where there’s evidence and proof. The few times in the interview where Lori actually said something that was responsive to Keith’s question, they included it in the episode. Like all liars, she doesn’t like it when someone produces proof; however, she just continues to deny it, even when there’s proof. She lied and went on tangents even when she was talking to Colby, when she had said she wanted more than anything to tell Colby the absolute truth. I felt nostalgic listening to this tonight —I originally found you two because of your early “dining room table” coverage of this story, and I think yours has been the best coverage of this story. I’ve watched the Heather Daybell 3-part interview three times, which is something I seldom do (re-watch podcast or YouTube episodes). Always love hearing from both of you—you’re the best!!
